Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

never mind... not going to feed it.... This is a friendly, social forum, lets continue to keep it that way.

My DS and DBIL have decided to cancel their adoption in the Ukraine and come home. The kids they were looking at were going to have issues they didn't want to tackle ... I think it was a wise decision. Glad they're coming home with all the issues they're facing in that country. Has been a tense few months for my family.

Anyone hear from Farmer lately?

I hope this is the last cold snap..... I'm getting the sheep sheered this weekend... they're gonna be a might chilly! More snow expected this weekend (1-3).. I may have to get some coats for my sheep!

Candy442, yep, you are absolutely right! And it is a way for people in this state to communicate openly about topics to chickens and farming and such. I just get a little bored when 2 people are carrying on an open conversation daily about their personal life and totally unrelated to anything going on with Chickens or other animals. Every morning I open my email hoping to find an intersting article only to find that molly had a cold and couldnt go to work this morning. I have to laugh sometimes because its the same persons carrying on a private little chat session between themselves using this thread like an open phone line to say hi, how ya doin today! Ugh. I must have cabin fever!

LOLOLOL!!
I, too, WISH there was a "delete" winter button!
I canNOT believe looking at the 10 day forecast that we are, once again, looking at NO days at or above freezing....my driveway and the walk to coop are SERIOUS skating rinks...I am just waiting to break a leg lugging the 3 gal of waterer to the birds....

On the email alert thingy...I have mine set so I only get emails if I am "quoted", "@'ed", or "Ovation"....

I have my emails set the same way also kitty and it works out great. It's almost like a lil family on this site at times. You get great advice and learn and help each other out in different areas. There are lots of great posts that have nothing to do with chickens that I enjoy and brightens my days at times. That is also why there is a picnic I assume, because it is a lil family and families share lots of things.

This winter does have to end. The next 7 day forecast has not 1 day above freezing. I so miss the birds running around in the sun, they seem to be doing great, but i'm sure they can't wait for warmer temps also. Wonder if my ducks even remember what the pond looked like.

For the beekeepers out there...

WASHINGTON, Feb. 25, 2014 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will provide close to $3 million in technical and financial assistance for interested farmers and ranchers to help improve the health of bees, which play an important role in crop production. The funding is a focused investment to improve pollinator health and will be targeted in five Midwestern states, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

I post social stuff and i read social stuff.

The state threads are for both targeted and chatter. Personally i think it brings us closer as a mi family. For those of you who don't want "jibber jabber"
you can start a thread specific to your topic of interest.
Not being snarky, it is easy to do and it sounds like there are several of you who would appreciate it. There was one specifically for gardening in mi at one point?
