.

Nope... only by special order for tbese breeds. They only get the same yr after yr. Ya might see something new for the feature breed however it will only come as st run. This week we got welsummers as a feature breed... only 4 pullets that I could tell out of 30. Other feature breed was barred rocks And every single one had a big white dot on Iits head.[/QUOTE]
That is so interesting - the FFH here has gotten two groups of 25, and each group only had 3 or 4 roos. Have not checked out the TSC's here yet - will make a run today to Hudsonville as the door handle broke on my sliding barn door (I have horses too) and need to replace it.

Hope ya'll are doing well. haven't been on in quite a bit, and there are over a thousand posts... Too bad we don't have a quick overveiw anymore... That was so convenient... Oh wait, I used to do that... Ho hummm...
We do miss that , must of been when you had more time.

A quick overview would be it got cold, stayed cold, is still cold, and more cold is coming. Almost everyone is tired of it.

Good morning!

Sorry if this is a silly question -- just a new mama trying to figure out what's right!
no question is silly, and the reason most of us are on this sight is to ask questions or help others in Mi. as we are all dealing with like weather

I agree with the others and liked the idea about adding a little feed to the floor, maybe some cottage cheese or something new would be a great distraction hope they have settled down now or you may have to get another silkie

Good news, we're not shearing the sheep tomorrow... going to put it off as long as possible though I may have to take a day off work when the time comes. I'm really happy about that. I have the girls shut in the shed though so we can keep them dry if we end up with any snow this weekend.

DS and DBIL have come home from the Ukraine empty handed. I feel bad that they didn't get to bring any kids home, but they said they still enjoyed the experience, and reminders that we still have it pretty good back here in the states.

Interesting article about the freeze quakes... it was during the coldest part of the night, yeah I bet that was it!

I keep tellin boss that we need to change a few chick rules and sell as many a customer wants and not a mandatory 6 or more. But its corporate rules that we have to follow. I also informed him about changing the breeds around and again a corporate thing... I keep thellin him about how well FFH dose but nothin else comes of it. So I guess ill give up and sell what we have. If someone is lookin for a certain breed or bird, I send them to the proper sellers at tgat time.

Replying to all the people who responded about TSC...

It is in New Hudson. They had a rare bin with all of those breeds. Maybe 10 left. Straight run. They are probably sold out by now. Would have gotten some if they weren't st run.

It sounds like they made the right choice for them, but it's still got to be hard.

We made eggs that looked like that for Halloween. We used red dye, and then made the yolks (they were deviled eggs) dark. They looked like creepy eyeballs.

I just got this Silkie last night, and I noticed after I got her home and today that her vent seems to be "big" (this is the first time at chicks for me, so I apologize about the best descriptions) and it will pulsate.

Is this normal? Is she just stressed getting into her new environment? I wasn't sure if it was because her poo was getting stuck in her feathers a little, so I trimmed those lower ones.
