Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

@ladyrsanti , I think that was me. I had it when I was 19 back in England. Yup, it's really painful, and few doctors know of it. Glad you got diagnosed. I haven't had a flare for years - have they come up with anything that can help with the pain? I hope so.

THANK YOU! Not yet. My dr. is doing some research into the disease but it sounds like the pain is best treated with anti-inflammatory otc types - which is what I usually take.

I would like a map of where chickens are welcomed at townships. At least then i'd know where i can move to without looking over my shoulder!!!!!
Well, presently we are ok here, and, I have a house to rent with attached chicken coop(s). Matter of fact, it's so nice here that the cattle farmer across from me have close by grand kids that can sit for any animal when someone has to be away. I love it here (for now).

It's funny that they say that large rural properties won't be effected by the change. They have already said via a conference call between my township, Michigan Senator's office, and MDARD they said that I DO NOT HAVE RIGHT TO FARM PROTECTION BECAUSE IM ZONED RESIDENTIAL! So if this is already their claim (that I supposedly don't have RTF protection due to my township zoning) then what's going to happen if these changes do go into effect?!? These changes specifically spell out that ALL residential zoned property will be excluded from RTF protection, even my 50+ acres, or my neighbors 1,000+ acres zoned residential...
I've already begun my next round of blowing up their phones. MDARD was my first call today, tomorrow will be a follow up with Stabbenow's office, etc.
the squeaky wheel gets the oil, right?
Actually it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease, but sometimes the squeaky wheel gets replaced and that's why it's a double edged sword.

Don't get me wrong - I agree that we the people need to make ourselves heard and kudos to those of you that are our ambassadors.

@RaZ - I'm sorry to bug you again, but can you post again the contacts we should harrass before the new meeting? I have a bone to pick, and I can't find the emails for all the board members.

I am still in and out. The 12 chicks I picked up a few weeks ago are still all alive and doing well. I think I need to build a larger brooder for them though. So I will be working on that tomorrow. At what age would I be able to determine sex? I suppose I should read up on that.

For those not as familiar with breeds, the porceleins and milles (short for Mille Fleur) spoke of previously are Belgian Bearded D'uccles, a bantam breed. Porcelein and Mille are colors. They are very sweet and pretty little birds.

I've been emailing Townline, and whoever it was replying told me the didn't have D'uccles, and then listed their bantams (which included the colors of the D'uccles). It seems the hatchery needs to educate their customer service folks a bit.

@RIRJen Congrats! Your birds photograph well.

@uchytil When you pull your maple taps, will you please let me know? With the weird weather, you'll probably go for a bit yet, right?

See what i wrote below! Mangosteen extract, cayenne (comes in softgells) "stress" vitamins with high b and magnesium, and proper calcium are all very potent anti inflammitory. I get low level headaches when i don't keep up on my vitamins. My mom told me a week ago that even ibuprofin is being found damaging according to a new study! (Which i take a lot of) So i'll be off to get some vitamins and whatnot again.

You are renting or renting one out?? I am back to searching in case the other one falls through. Gal who was renting it out just got diagnosed with liver problems from being on prolonged use of pain relievers (prescribed) acedaminaphin damage! I haven't asked her out of politeness.
If you know of one or a reasonable rent-to-own.....!

Something else interesting, I was told by SO that we will be getting a new swing set/slide this year. The one we bought blind from his sisters GF (never again will we trust his sister on condition) is sturdy enough, but not worth the $150 we paid. The set is a wooden one. I foresee it turning into some type of poultry coop and run. I am just not sure what. That won't happen right away. Most likely after the addition is done (pushed back to May because of the weather).
