Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Well.......... that was long and stressful.......... I knew Star was huge........ I expected twins or triplets.........but..............I was not expecting or prepared for......

a whole herd!

#1: Doeling (tiny black and white)
#2: Doeling (lively light cream- BLUE EYES!!! she's a keeper!)
#3: Doeling (white and tan w/floppy ears)
#4: Buckling (huge black and white)
#5: Doeling(small tri-color, hard to see in photo)

My poor momma girl is whipped... but also not rebounding as fast as I think she should..I may end up calling the vet. I gave her a dose of vit B and she's had 2 calcium drenches (last night at midnight) and after kidding today, along with a vitamin drench before, during and after, and some probiotics... she is still pretty lethargic.
I milked out some colostrum for the tiniest babies and will be supplement feeding them as well. I haven't decided if I'm going to leave them with her while I feed her, or pull her inside.

I was hoping for a doeling to keep, now I have 4 to choose from. Hopefully the small ones make it. The light cream one I am keeping for sure... the rest..... we shall see!

Gratz...hope everyone continues to do well.

Quote: Curious too about parentage, that is some Tail!!...and/or do you have a pic of this bird as a chick?

Heads up to all that own natural ponds stocked with fish...

Walked around mine which is filled with 6 monster koi and thousands of goldfish. I saw A LOT of dead bodies. My pond is 12ft deep and about 25ft wide and about 100ft long. (Approx a quarter acre)

Good news is I have not seen any koi bodies and also saw a school of goldfish swimming so hopefully the koi made it.

So pending on your ponds and the bad winter... ya might have the same issues with wild fish too.
Is the whole pond pretty much 12 feet...or half of it...or?
Do you do anything to keep a hole in the ice overwinter for gas exchange?
Hoe your koi make it thru!
