Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Good save Farmer! Glad you guys got the babies away from mom. We're getting ours disbudded by the vet Wednesday... not going to be a fun day but at least they dope them up so it's more humane.

Gonna be a gorgeous day..... 50 something degrees and mostly sunny.

Juvie birds (5-6-7 week olds) will go outside to their 'playpen' while I get busy installing a pop door on the coop partition that will be their home until integration or soup pot this fall.
Should have done this earlier...but, oh well.....copied a brilliant 'self latching' mechanism for the sliding pop door, performs great on the bench top... am excited to get it installed.

Grass finally greening up here....took the week olds out yesterday too.
EEs were scared, Light Brahmas went to town on the ground very quickly. Need to slap together a yard pen for them too.

....and just for giggles.
Giant Eggs....or Tiny Daffodils?

They are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I have battled the hubby on getting goats for years and he just won't give. He's a mechanic and says they will climb all over his customers cars. But, but...butttttttt they are so cuuuuuute.....! Keep on with the pictures, it's the only way some of us get to see their ultimate cuteness!
The simple solution is to let hubby build a good size garage for his repair work. That way the goats will be outside and DH will be safely contained within.

Two roosters need a home! They are not ours. One buff brahma and one mystery. Filthy water, no food and tiny coop! They need to go, they are free! No pictures available but I can try to get some of you are interested.

PM me for more info.

They come with a small coop, good for housing sick chickens!

I would like one of these please!

Oh ya, that is cool Maah.

Ok y'all, here's today's seed growing, soil making, duck poop utilizing experiment. Please please please give me some feedback. What do you think?
what I did was fill a foil roaster pan about 1.5" with my damp clay, tried to break up some, *and I included all the earthworms I could find*. Atop that, I added thin layer orange pine needles, then some old leaves, then a few green pine needles, then some half rotted straw... And then, this is my fave part, I took my mini-hoe and an empty plastic can, went and scooped up duck poop, more straw, and maybe a little sand. Then I watered it very well, and then I sprinkled on some Cosmos Flower seeds. Then I wrapped it up with plastic wrap, Amiga's way, and slit a few breathing holes in the top. (I had punctured drainage holes in the bottom of the pan too). Do y'all think these seeds will germinate and plants grow? My hope is that the compost stuff will break down rapidly into soil, with the heat from the foil pan and the plastic "lid" Here's what it looks like.

I have that exact egg scale and while they are attractive and a great conversation piece, most of the eggs I am currently getting are jumbos and larger the scale just bottoms out. For the same money you can get a very nice digital scale that will weight all of your eggs accurately.
