Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

If you don't want to post where you're from, you can give a general idea, i.e. ~ 25 miles N of Flint.
Thanks for the answers about therm ply, I have never heard of it before and it sounds like something useful to have around.
I'm about an hour east of bay city over in the thumb.

Silly question.. Do you raise rabbits for meat also?? Or do you sell bunnies and chicks?? Trying to find someone to buy from for next spring.

Or is anyone from the tri-cities area who will have chicks to sell and advice for a first timer. Also looking for help with getting some rabbits and ducks...

Have s great night!

I sell dwarf pet/show pedigreed baby bunnies and also 4-h/fair/pet chicks and hatching eggs. I sell way more eggs vrs chicks as I only hatch a few times a spring/summer. Chicks dont last long as not a lot of folks breed for them in Michigan cause they are expensive and not as popular here like they are down south.

Hummm, today is officially day one of hand turning 54 turkey, duck and chicken eggs in the new bator (thanks for the heads up on the bator ML!). Not sure I really like this idea AT ALL. After I candle in 6 days I plan on pulling out any duds and resetting with more turkey and chicken and was thinking about doubling up in the areas not by the heating element. I think I've really done it now!!! I wish my other bator wasn't full! ARGH!

Oh my! That sounds like a ton of work, and I was complaining about hand turning my 14 extra eggs that wouldn't fit in my turners! Good luck to you, I would be happy to take a few turkey eggs off your hands ;)

I didn't see a lot of posts telling where everyone is from.
I did not post my location for a long time. Then after I was convicted it was public knowledge so I added it.
Considering the recent vote by the ag commissioners, I would urge caution in openly displaying where one is located.

I'm not 100% positive but it seems that 3 of the Wellies might be male. At 11 weeks old they are difficult to apart but I have my suspicions. So they might come to CS with or go to camp. They could go sooner if anyone is interested.

Right on Raz, my situation has made me fear for my familie's safety. When crazy government officials take animal owning against ordinance personally, it can be a scary situation! I had to change my BYC user name, and hide my identity.
Unfortunately the judge did not see our situation as warranting a PPO, and denied our request. Apparently someone shooting on your property shouting about chickens isn't enough evidence... My location on BYC will now be simply USA.

If my momma muscovy keeps on her nest, I will have ducklings around the 23rd and in time for chickenstock. Naglady has 1st choice if she's still looking for Muscovies. They are good for pets or meat ducks, she is on about 15 eggs, but I can't candle them, it upsets her to much if I go near her. She is only 9 mos. so a young mom. I'm in the thumb area. You can sign up to go to Mi chickenstock picnic, there sounds like there will be lots there.

Welcome @Meca

Our two 5 week olds are enjoying their first full day outside. I have them in the coop that is set up like a duplex with a pass through (that is blocked off today). They are so happy to have more room and fresh air. I think I'll be pulling them back inside for nights this week. Chilly temps at night still.
