Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Yup, Sam said he can't make it this year. I wonder if people are growing tired of this get together. Lots of folks not coming
The turn out last year was less than the year before. But we also saw a lot of new faces for the first time.
I hope to see an up-tick of attendees this year; we have a speaker lined up that might be a draw for some.

I also sincerely hope that no one is getting tired of this gathering. I think it is more important now than ever before to connect with each other over our common interests. This is the one time that we can actually see each other face-to-face and chat for real.

I hope I can attend chickenstock. I haven't put my name down because I don't know what my schedule will be then. I'll know in a week or so.

I need to get away, even for just a day or two.

It is a very frosty morning here, but at least it wasn't yesterday's snow! It is nice and sunny and I got to see mrs. wild turkey making her rounds.

I was just talking to someone about redundancy when it comes to putting chicks outside as cold as it is up here. I have three brooders of chicks that are still in the basement but what are the odds that two of the three lights went out last night. One was knocked down by jumping turkeys and the other just burned out. The amazing thing is that no one went crazy peeping.

I wish I could say I was coming to Chicken stock but I don't think it is possible at this point.

Mr. Hot Stuff is a real cutie!

Woohoo! I was finally able to upload some pix of the babies :weee

Album "Maia's Babies" under my profile. Yesterday they had their first excursion with mama outside & only 4-5 days old! What a difference letting a broody do all the work vs. having them in the house (NO mess!)

It took over an hour for just 9 pix to load....geesh. I guess I was just being impatient while trying to post on the thread...never has taken so long...

The pics are adorable. That is so nice she can take them out with the others and no one bothers them. I would be afraid that the others would pick on them cuz their so small. Congratulations!!!

I was out there the whole time. Figured I would listen to all the expert advice on the broody thread that said "mama will know best", but to be out there & make sure she really IS a good mama &'that the rest if the flock isn't aggressive towards the babies. There was a little curiosity, but that was about it.

Maia is very vocal when when of the babies' aunts do something she doesn't like!

While she was out with them I was able to clean out their crate, put fresh bedding/straw in. It was too funny, Bigboy went in the crate & "re-made" her nest so that it was all set when she was ready to take the kids back in!

It's hard for me to consider that Chickenstock is so soon, given the chilly weather.
I'm betting there will be a good turnout. There might not be as many of the old - pardon me - "more seasoned" regulars from before this year, but it seems that there has been a lot of interest. I think the #s will go up after Memorial Day weekend.
I sure hope all will come out and enjoy the day! I know the Michigan group on Facebook was worried it was a "closed" event.

We went for the first time last year and will make it as many times from now on that we can :)

I agree, I hope no one is growing tired of the event. Or if just a few have or not showing up due to other commitments, I hope that does not discourage the others that know those people from attending.

Ditto.
Last year was my first year (& first year w/chickens).
Met so many great people; was great to actually meet people face to face & match said faces w/screen names !
Can't wait for this year's...
