Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

John, I was just thinking that I need to get back in touch with you about that. I have been so busy enjoying the days with my grandson and then getting things done when he goes home. I would like to go. Just have to clear it with boss man and if he isn't working maybe I can get him to go to.
We have had bears come through here three times in the last couple of weeks. First it was a mom and two cubs,

Then it was a single bear,

Then another single bear at 5:30 am on Tuesday. But the picture isn't very clear on it.

Near Croton? I am in Grant! Hello neighbor.

That is exactly like the outside of my pen, except I have 3 layers chicken wire, plus a taller layer of hardware cloth on the bottom. And the skirts we buried.

Same here on the skirts. I have 1/8" hardware cloth buried 12" deep at the edge, 12" out, then 12" back up (like a "U"). Might be overkill, but got a REALLY good deal on the HW cloth on Amazon last year.

I had to unexpectedly put my dog down yesterday. It was easily the hardest, most painful decision I've ever made in my life. I'm so full of grief and guilt right now. Deep down, I know it was the right decision, but it doesnt feel that way right now. I miss him so much. I feel like I betrayed my best friend.

edited to add hes the one on the top in my avatar.

we have been through that, so sorry, it is very hard.

I have a euskal oilou, rooster(Basqu) hatched last spring, that needs a home, will sell a hen with him if needed, his comb got frost bite this winter and he lost most of his points but he would be a good breeder, gentle, no white in the tail feathers, comb and wattles are a bit worse for ware right now after fighting with another roo.
Have decided to go with the Chanticlair and Amaraucana's due to lack of combs,

When I had to put my 14 year old corgi down, she was deaf, blind, could not walk around, and was just depressed as old dogs get.
I had the vet come to my home so she could be on her favorite chair. I kept crying and telling her I was sorry.

The vet looked and me and said, "Why are you sorry? You are doing the ultimate kindness."

Just a thought for you.

So sry for your loss, we also had to put out 14 yr old lab down a yr ago. My son was 16 and had it his whole life about, it was the hardest thing to do, but def the right one in the long run.

Well today is day 35 by my calculations and my muscovy should have her eggs start hatching today. I keep running out and listening in hopes of hearing peeps or quacks, I don't know, will be my 1st time. She is in her dog house on 15 eggs about and i can't see in at all, it's driving me nuts not knowing when or what to expect.
