Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Stacykins,
Without all that you have done for that little girl for all this time, she would not have had as long a life as she did. You cared for her well and did all that you could to save her. Try not to blame yourself. If you really believe there was something you missed or could have done differently to save her, then try to learn from that. If you did all that you could possibly could have done, remember her and try again. Sometimes, as hard as it is, there is nothing more we can do. Keep loving and caring for your little herd. They need you still.

It looks there are a few of us now in the Manistee, area!

Stacykins - i'm so sorry. You may feel like you failed her but you most certainly did not. You did everything you could and you loved and cared for her all the way. You are a great goat mommy. Go give your other babies hugs and have a good cry over you sweet little one.

Shegeekster - I know where you are - and you're close. Going by lakes we are by Carp Lake. Welcome it's nice to add more northern folk.

Bow shoot is finally done and my chickens behaved with a yard full of kids. The showgirls got lots of comments as did the basque who a couple fisherman wanted to rob him of his hackle feathers.

I forgot my very exciting chicken news - ok maybe not exciting to you, but my 5 youngsters tucked themselves in tonight in the big coop. I didn't have to dig them out of the coop with the broken window and move them. I went to check and the sweet little things were all roosted with the big chickens on their own! So much less work.

lol I guess for some reason I thought people might recognize the lakes before the town names! I know where Alpena is but is Oscoda also along the lakeshore? Maybe a better placement for me would be: right off I-75, about 30 mins. each north of Gaylord, east of Petoskey, and south of Cheboygan. Which will put you in Indian River!

I think my chicken (Nugget) with wry neck is improving. Slowly but improving!!! I hope I don't jinx myself...

A "prepper" is someone who is becoming more self-sufficient to protect his or her family from disaster--economic downturn, natural disaster, zombie apocalypse, the usual stuff. We used to call it common sense, our grandparents understood it. Anyway, if you're into gardening, canning, chickens, and everything else that a homesteader would do, you'd be considered a prepper.
I am a prepper. Not super big, but i am trying to learn homesteading skills Just In Case. Never know, right? I found out that i find doing stuff the "hard" way is actually quite relaxing, feels "right" Go figure!
. I got four girls new this spring, ......... Ethyl, Grace, are Easter Eggers Here is a little pic of them ignoring me:

I felt that way when my lap hen died, i still have a hard time some days when out with my birds. Gotta stay strong for the others, they are hurting too and need you right now, even if it hurts.
