Need you hugging it in the pic for true perspective
I am so in love with this old tree. Look at those limbs!
Same here. When I see someone just having a tree removed because it's "in the way" it breaks my heart. Even if you replant something else, it takes forever to grow. There are plenty of bad trees around here that need to go.Opa that worked out great. It breaks my heart to see some of my old, huge trees die or fall. The only consolation is that at least they go to heat someones' home.
That looks like a twin I have out in the forest, lol! Would make a mess of maple syrup. I just spent 8 hours sawing up cherry and throwing it in the barn. Next to split and stack for spring sugar season. I love the way cherry smells as it burns. There's a sawmill I use locally. It's hard to find any wide oak anymore. Years ago I built a blanket chest/rail backed love seat out of locally milled red oak boards that were 24 inches wide. I still have the piece and it's as nice as the day it went together. If you can make something out of some of that it'll be a conversation piece for years to come. Even just turning a small piece on a lathe can make a nice lamp. When an ash tree blew down on mom & dad's in the 80's I made a lamp for my daughter.
