Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I saw the posts about ducks. Whoa are they ever messy! As previously mentioned the doghouse or igloo works great. I built a small modified a-frame for pigs but ended up housing ducks all winter (s). They never have gotten frostbite even after sitting in the snow, muck, and whatever, before being herded into the shelter at night. I try to keep the straw changed weekly as they do like to poop! I also make sure their door is locked as possums will go right in the pen and eat eggs (and ducks if there are no eggs).

Ducks............ won't make that mistake again... they're not called waterfowl for nothing!

Thanks for the tips!

Cheater Brennigan!!! No PEEKING!!! ;)

DH got a call from American Express... his card was compromised... they managed to change all the contact info and everything. Tried to buy a bunch of stuff on line. Glad AMEX is on their toes or we could have been screwed! The last time he used it was at the Best Buy in Jackson mi. The address was changed to one in Jackson that doesn't exist, so we are speculating it was the kid at BB that stole the info.. how else would they get the security codes etc..

Silly, I would spray the unfinished parts with a spray shellac and washed the exterior with Murphy's oil soap. If you intend to refinish it, get a citrus based non toxic paint stripper.

Not to scare you, but I have witnessed a waitress scanning cards on her way to process the bill. She had a scanner right in her apron, she could have gotten hundreds that day. I told the customer and he confronted her by saying, I gave you a bad card. I'm going to pay cash instead. The look on her face was so telling. She gave him back his card and he immediately canceled it by phone. I don't know if the police were ever involved.

SawDUST is too fine for chickens, they have very sensitive respiratory tracts, and are down low close to the bedding breathing in dust and ammonia. If it is shavings, it should not be a problem.
I hear you but I don't have anything dusty for my horses in the first place...this is less than the shavings I buy. And with the layer of straw there no chance for any dust They are always in the big pile bathing and it's less dusty than sand. This is also mixed with shavings - it's not fine like from a saw (which is dusty). Thank you for your concern :)
