Maybe. The only non chicken farms that i know of near here are turkey farms, unless there was an exotic fowl breeder i wasn't aware of. But mareks (non harmful form) has always been present in wild turkeys, and i thought would throw a positive test result as well?
At any rate having usda officials going door to door anywhere near me is scary. I have heard of increased local property inspections, especially where chickens are. They are quietly keeping tabs! When i move i am making an indoor aviary for my birds. Aside from the little banty pair i only have a trio. A 4x8 should be sufficient, as long as they get outside time. Or i resort to diapering, lol. Never thought i'd see the day- i laughed my butt off first time i saw a pic!!

There is a large chicken farm right behind me, so I do think that's where they would go first. A lot of the neighbors have chickens, too. Have not seen anyone so maybe it's something local to you? Will be interested to hear....

And diapers...LOL! But I am considering chicken "aprons" as I was gifted some girls that are rooster favorites and look very naked right now....

I just got a couple aprons. I need to put one on BUG (Beat Up Girl), Bigboy's fav girl...her back is naked and one of my other girls likes to pick at it!
THe diapers are hilarious, but great if you have to bring a bird in for a few days & want to let them run around for a bit. Got mine last year when I had to bring Spaz (avatar) in for a few...then it got so frigid I couldn't put her back out...she was definitely a pet by the time she died!

Ok..there is a darn woodpecker eating my house right now...(have a log home)....need to go yell at him...

Kaia update...same. Though she's thoroughly enjoying some kale right now..

Still no eggs to reports from my chickens. They have brand new roosts and nest boxes newly built for them, and a light on a timer to extend the days because they have had a break from laying for over 2 months already. We also cleaned out the entire coop and put down lime and about 3 inches of wood shavings and got their scratch feeder set up.....down side is the buggers took the entire feeder full which was like 15lbs of scratch and put it all on the floor next to the feeder so they could pick out the BOSS and oats

OH says they get no more scratch until they eat all the cracked corn first lol. Never thought i would have to force feed "veggies" to my chickens.

Since I started the topic of microscopes there's been some good information passed. In closing I'll just say there is great information on the web to get anyone started in Parasitology, and, if you are really in to it many local colleges offer classes. I'll stick with the basic scope I have.

Pretty nice here, 18 degrees and the sun is shinning almost no wind. Much nicer feeling then yesterday even though yesterday was warmer temp wise, wind wise it sucked here.

My pullets are 25 weeks old and not a single orb

. Breeds include wyandottes, ancona, EE, polish, marans, welsummer and barnevelder. Should I be worried or is this normal
