Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

hey everyone...just got back home another trip...have been just learning new things...got some stuff done....and found two fridges for the big incubators...yeppper they will be delivered by next weekend so im excited...hope all is well....merry early christmas

While today is going to be a rather hectic day, I wanted to take a few moments to post and wish everyone a merry Christmas. Today Granny, Hope, and I are a having the first of our holiday dinners with my son David and his wife, my brother Rick and his wife, and of course my old farmer friend. Since David's mother is visiting him for the holiday she will be joining us as well.

Hope sent yesterday baking pies and cakes and the ham will soon be going in the oven. So today will be a day of celebration and full stomachs. Then on Saturday we will be doing it all over again as we celebrate with Hope's two sons and their families. Since their father is in town he will be joining us as well.

With many people having an ex spouse for dinner would be unheard of, but I think that past issues need to be forgotten and Christmas we all should come together to celebrate the children we have been blessed with.

So I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and full nest boxes.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas! Tonight whilst sugar plums dance in children's heads, and NORAD tracks Santa, I'll be burning the midnight oil, since healthcare facilities must still run! But the management will be coming in to cook us steaks, eggs, and hash browns, which will be pretty awesome! I'm told last year the steaks were so tender you could cut them with a plastic knife with ease. Yum!

Since I just got off work, I'm off to snooze to prepare for tonight!

hope everyone enjoys the day....its raining by me and then supposed to turn to snow...not a good combo for Christmas eve...but lets have a great holiday season here...talk to you peeps in a bit

Recipe please, sounds delicious.

Merry Christmas-  Happy Holidays everybody.

Easy easy!
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons water
1 cup slivered almonds, optional

Butter a cookie sheet. Cook all but nuts in heavy pan stirring constantly until 300 degrees. I Usually go half way between soft crack and hard crack, about 280 because I don't like it real dark. Add the nuts dump on the cookie sheet, when it's firm, top with chocolate chips, when they melt smooth them out. When completely cool crack and store.

I haven't felt too thankful lately with work, weather and fighting an infection. A friend/neighbor found out last night she has a brain tumor and is in surgery today. Unfortunately it takes stories like this to put my whining in perspective.
My family gets together this afternoon and I have spinach artichoke dip to make still. Lots of kids and presents. Tomorrow I anticipate DH being called into work with the 6" of snow forecasted. Later at his families it should be peaceful. DH's brother always causes a drunken fight of some kind. Thankfully he is finally facing the consequences for the 5 drunk driving charges he has. He is "otherwise engaged" for 11 months.

Our dinner tomorrow is untraditional, we are having ribs and Bosco sticks as requested, what else I haven't decided. The chickens get nothing special this year. Everyone have a great day tomorrow and don't get too wrapped up in the "doing", relax and enjoy!

@taprock
Thanks for the recipe! I just may whip some up since I have all the ingredients!

Everyone have a wonderful , fun XMAS eve...be safe out there as looks like the driving could get dicey tonight!

I'm home from the hospital. Surgery went well and I have a layer of mesh buried in there somewhere. Several tumors causing pressure were also removed so that should help even more. The only downside is a very sore throat from whatever tube they shoved down my throat.

The nurses and doctors were all terrific, very friendly and helpful. The nurse is even setting me up with a nutritionist to help me get this diabetes handled. All and all great people there.

I am very grateful to the people who stepped in at the last minute to take me there and back. Nora took me on her way to work and Mike came to pick me up afterwards.

So I am supposed to rest and recover for a couple of days and then slowly get back into the swing of things. I need to make 2015 a productive year.

Thanks for all your well wishes.
