I will be there with some chickens, ducks, and geese. We will be wearing red shirts with bird footprints on the back. Hope to meet many fellow BYC members there.Good evening, is anyone going to Fowl Fest next Saturday? I'm looking foreward to seeing the birds, and maybe meeting some of you there. Anyone interested in a blue Marans cockrel hatched in June? Mary
How i did mine: I didn't even sponge poo off these eggs i hatched, i just scraped any solid bits off with my nail, and did an egg carton incubation. I ran the bator at 102 for 2 days, because it's a still air and they need higher temps. I cut half the carton off, so there was no middle and only half-cups. I put 4 tiny masons in each corner (the jars held the heat more evenly at each corner), with 1 inch by 4 inch cutouts from the carton since i didn't have any sponges. (To hold humidity) 2 were under holes so i could squirt water in later. I put in 2 thermometers, with the bulbs at each end. I sat the whole shebang on a hat maker ring, so the bottom was getting air flow. I left it alone for a whole day, with the plugs in so it could come to temp.
I did a dry incubation, except for a Tb or 2 in the ring to start the process since some of my eggs were going on 2 weeks old. I taped the box shut, and used a butter dish to tilt one side up, then the other (After the eggs had come to temp for a day). I ran the air conditioner to keep temps stable, and unpIugged the caps to alter temps. If they needed to go up a couple degrees, i put a folded towel on top. I tilted end to end, not side to side. Only time i opened was at day 6 to candle, and at day 13 to candle. I wanted to be sure that i didn't mess with the humidity at the end.
At day 18 i used a hair dye bottle (very clean) to squirt an inch of water into the 2 jars, waited, then squirted water into the big ring. I ended up having to put water into the other ring, to bump it to the 60%, but i didn't get the humidity up the day it should have been, (My fault, for not calibrating my metor correctly) so i was lucky it went as well as it did. The opening in the heat ring is at the left of the eggs, by the brown hydrogometer.

I have a feeling that Sam will read this in the morning and wonder if y'all hit your heads, or if he's stumbled onto some sort of Looney chicken thread. Lol! Silkies in sweaters... That I have to see.
Looking for a home for these little guys...
You are even more strange than I first thought!I wanted to show you my doll house! We picked it up this morning!!
I can't wait to start fixing it up and decorating it!!
I think I need some tiny chickens to put on the front porch!!!
I have a compound bow but I don't pull enough weight that I would feel comfortable hunting with it.
I'll wear my green footprint shirt.I will be there with some chickens, ducks, and geese. We will be wearing red shirts with bird footprints on the back. Hope to meet many fellow BYC members there.
What did you do with TC? I haven't heard from her in a awhile.Hey there NovaAman and Raz!! It's pettec63 from the WA thread!!![]()
thought I'd pop in and say hey, never been here before, unlike my buddy CR!! Hope you guys are doing well! maybe I'll visit again sometime!
Mine are hatchery stock also and there not terribly bad i did get one pullet with no beard but the rest aren't to bad i'm hoping i get some decent chicks in the spring and possibly get some really nice ones but ya never knowlike I said, that pict was a while ago, when I only had the two roos..... now I have 6, and everyone looks a shambles! I will be thinning out all but one roo and a few hens and kinda starting over with them. I have had a few hatching's from them, but honestly, I am not happy with the quality of the birds from the hatchery some of the offspring weren't even close, missing beards etc.. and not very friendly. I guess I'm getting disenchanted with them.

I've been really busy this summer so I haven't been on the forum consistently for awhile, she sent me a PM in July and I responded, but, haven't heard from her since, she was supposed to take some ducks to CL's and never did? And since I've been back on I haven't seen her either! I hope she's ok! Maybe someone upset her?
