Little Giant Incubator Tricks

sorry can't remember-- a still air or with fan?? If still air, 101 is a tad low, should be 102. Often the temp will be measured at /12 height of the egg for about 99.5. One OG user pets fish tank thermometers on the racks of the turner and like the 99.5 temps. ( I don't use a turner, so I measure on the screne floor and on top of hte eggs AND at 1/2 height!!! lol)

So I checked with another thermometer and they do match up and both were 102 on top of the eggs

What am I doing wrong? I must have done something going from Turner to lockdown. Both still air, both same temps increased humidity to 70%...

I'm having similar problems temp has gone silly
3 different ones plus the temp dial all saying different things
From 35%-39%
Humidity varying from 55%~68%
Lock down tomorrow!

After checking the temp on my thermometers as well as 2 new thermometers (until I get a better name brand one) I have an "analog" meat thermometer that is instant read as well as an acurite digital meat thermometer instant read in the roll-x! Both reading good temps, analog at 100° near bottom of the bator and digital reading 101 in the manufacturer's original thermometer spot. Set 40 eggs today...heres to hoping. Pinkaboo- Good Luck on your hatch!
Quail- Theres still hope! My last hatch the only ones that hatched did so on days 22-23!

You might for more varied answers over in the other section for raising chicks-- I use wooden boxes with heat lamps; a box stall w/ heat lamp. OThers use huge horse troughs or kiddie pool. Many options. I have also used huge paper boxes for the first few weeks. Only limited to your imagination and a few basic requirements: heat lamp, food, water, and protection from drafts.

Ok sorry I miss spoke

what I wanted to ask.. what is the easiest & best priced incubator ( not a brooder ) , where I don't have to fiddle with it to add this , that or what ever

102 on top of the eggs-- these two thermometers match-- how confident are youthat they are acurate??

Humidity at 70% is mroe than enough-- that is turkey egg level. THe higher the %RH like 80% it is important to reduce the temp a degree or so.

How is the air flow in the hatcher?? Are the holes in the bottom open? Nothing to block air flow?? How about the top vents-- all iopen? red plugs out??

How did the air cells look at day 18?? did you compare them to a diagram, or did you wiegh them to track weight loss of he egg??
