Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

So sorry, Peep! It's hard to loose them so young.

The heading on the chickenstock link is wrong. But, if you read the info, it does say the 20th. RaZ, can you fix it, please?

Getting some chicks in the mail tomorrow from Meyer hatchery! I can't wait! I got 6 Maran pullets, 5 buff Orpington pullets, and 4 Columbia Wyandot pullets. I don't think I'm going to be keeping all of them. I'll post pics after I get them.

Sorry peep.

All has been quiet this winter until this week. Hopefully it is a sign of spring in the way. I have been wanting to reduce my flock but not necessarily in this way. Sorry to hear you have had such a bad week, roosters can be a pain.

The title of this year's CS has a typo. The body of the message is accurate.

I believe Brutus will also be going unless someone is wanting a dominant Malay. The thing is I have been suspicious of Him because of some things my son has seen and I have had my eye on his behavior but he never does anything horrible while I am watching.
Chicken Drama = Spring Coming??
Is he a hatchery Malay or from a respectable breeder? I have feeling that if he is of any good breeder quality you should not have any problem getting rid of him. Could you post photos of a good side and front view?

OhManYeah!!!
It was 37 degrees in the coop today...got to sit and watch the chicks in the coop, sit in the sun outside and watch the adults and got some poopsicles finally cleared away.
I had a hard time gathering up the girls after letting them out. LOL

Sorry peep.

All has been quiet this winter until this week. Hopefully it is a sign of spring in the way. I have been wanting to reduce my flock but not necessarily in this way.

Friday I had two Serema boys fighting. I brought them in and cleaned them up they looked fine so I put them back out. It was a warm day so I put my polish healed up frostbit guy out only to have him flogged by the Malay so back in he came.
Then we had the weasel incident Saturday. The surviving boy from the weasel coop is covered in dried blood but seems fine. If I try to look him over he screams like he is being killed. He won't go back in his coop and moved into the next one. I cracked the Serema coop open because they are in a warm spot and I come back to find Odin one of the boys who had been fighting has been forced out of the coop and is sitting in a snow bank. I brought him in for the day and put him back after dark.
So sunday I moved Pippin the polish out of the house and into the now empty coop with a few polish girls for company. I was feeding the Seremas and In the short time I was out Odin was booted into the snow by his coop mates so into the house he comes. I also find upon inspecting the frost bit guinea she will have only nubs left for feet and I believe she will have to be put down.
Today I decided I would clean The cage Pippin was using to put Odin in until I determine who is causing problem in his coop and who will have to go. As I am preparing to do this my son sees Fred his Basque sitting dejectedly in the driveway and I send him to find out what is wrong. Fred has both feet frozen solid up past his Spurs so he will have to be put down. The only thing I can guess is that Brutus the malay booted him from the coop in a coup to take over head rooster position in the coop. So the now empty cage has been temporarily filled until my dh can take care of the guinea and Fred. I believe Brutus will also be going unless someone is wanting a dominant Malay. The thing is I have been suspicious of Him because of some things my son has seen and I have had my eye on his behavior but he never does anything horrible while I am watching.

Poor Fred. Brutus is a stealth rooster.
