Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I got 11 yesterday and was thrilled, I have 37 and they have been very lazy this winter;......18 from 26 is WONDERFUL
almost every week I got a new tiny egg from someone. I can't wait to verify who the holdouts are.

I'm a rooster predicament. I have two roosters I can't keep probably because they will most likely crush my bantams. I know someone who can take my two extra roosters. They have 30 hens and like 10 roosters (which I think is way to many). They are crowded to one coop but do have decent free-range space. Predators are common too.

The only reason I can't keep them, is that they will hurt my bantam hens when they get older. Especially my favorite, Ebony. He follows you around, and just wants to sit on your lap.

Ebony appears to be a Jersey Giant(Australorp?), Black Star cross. Hatched 12/13/14.

The other doesn't really have a name, I just call him Fish. He looks like a barred rooster, but is a cross because he has a few brown feathers and doesn't have a straight comb. Hatched 12/25/14.

Now here's the issue. I can give him to the person I know, have them live in that environment and with the constant threat of predator issues. Or someone on BYC can take one (or both), as long as they aren't eaten or get killed the first week by coon, which both happened in 2013. I don't want to go through that again. Or I can put them in a bachelor pen. But I only like having one chicken coop to deal with, and I would feel bad for the roosters, they would be we to see my hens from where they are.

Would a capon stop them from jumping on the hens?

If anyone wants to give them a home, I'm in south eastern Michigan. Otherwise, I guess I need a bachelor pen lol.

and now my driveway/swimming pool is now an ice rink.

I guess it just couldn't stay above freezing last night. Slickery walk to coop today. Girls are slip sliding their way around the yard too.
Same thing up here....everything got all melty/slushi yesterday and froze up over nice so lovely ice rinks all over...should get warm enough today to melt and get all slushie again though.
