Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Well that heart surgery thing was a pretty big shock yesterday. I came home with a binder full of information that I need to digest over the weekend.

Woke up this morning with an epiphany. If I get that pig heart valve I'll probably be considered feral by the state and have to wear an ear tag.

The biggest hurdle to this procedure will be coming up with some help for taking care of my critters whilst I am in hospital. They said 5-7 days in hospital then 6-8 weeks of recovery either in a halfway house or at home with an assistant.

Thanks for all of the well wishes and support. You guys are wonderful.

Ha!  I got so wrapped up reading about everyone I forgot to ask:  I have been noticing one of my chicks (they are approximately three weeks old) seeming to yawn and stretch her neck.  I've read there's something called gapeworm-could she have that ALREADY?  I've held her to listen for a "gurgling" sound but I think all I heard was her little heartbeat.  She seems just fine otherwise.

:idunno

My 8 week old pullet did that this morning!

Good luck with everything.

I think Spring has finally sprung! While we are going to get a little bit of a chill again next weekend, we are supposed to be near 60 today and 65 Monday. The snow is slowly melting and it seems spring is on the way! The daffodils are starting to pop up through the ground too. I'm so ready for spring!

Also, I just wanted to let anyone interested in a Jill Rees Cream Legbar Rooster know that I have updated my prices on my listing to include shipping and box. If you're more local, the price is $90 for pick up. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.

Raz as awful as it sounds a planned heart surgury is always better than an emergency one.

I think I'm going through rooster withdrawal it seems so quiet around here, although the 11 I have may sound like lots. These guys are all very mellow and each have a little flock of girls that travel with them.

The yard is emerging from the snow and it is such a mess! It is nice to be out though! My son has been outside with the decoys and crow caller all afternoon trying to get some to show up. He can't shoot because he is by himself but he said it was "practice".

Will anyone have turkey hatching eggs available? I really want a few but I'm not sure I want to commit to the minimum order for chicks.

It hit 60 degrees here this afternoon! It was wonderful. The sap is flowing nicely now, have 5 gallons boiling down on the grill, and another 3 in the fridge and the buckets are still filling.

It's 49 now so it didn't stay up there long, but this is the nicest March I've seen in a while. I don't count that disaster in 2012 when we had 80s for 2 weeks in March either.

Time to collect my last few eggs for the HAL. I don't think I'll even have a full 'bator!

Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope you get well soon and that the surgery is a success! I'm sending well wishes your way!

Sorry to hear your troubles, RaZ. But, you'll be feeling so much better once you heal. Hope all goes well when the time comes.

Weather is beautiful, and I have no energy to get things done. I'm on my second round of pneumonia since Jan. I'm so tired and tired of being sick. I want to get outside and do something!!
chickflick sending you a massive round of healing vibes to blow that pneumonia right out of your system.

First off - The baby in a flag is just FINE! The pissy people are pissing and moaning about any Flag issue these days like having to have it on a flagpole at their school, or whatever. After serving 31 years active duty with one year in the Middle East watching 3rd world anti-american's drag, burn, and disgrace our flag I can say anyone that wants to stay in my country better start respecting this flag or they have my permission to go live in somewhere where they can learn how good they had it.

The chicken runs are messy.
