Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Good Morning Michigan
I have three Blue Orpington roosters I am looking for new homes for FREE to a BYC member. Pretty guys just starting to crow.
I live in the Jackson / Lansing area or I'm going to Fowl Fest. PM me if interested.
I also have some 27 week old Australorp roosters that I would like to trade for a different blood line.
None of these guys are hatchery birds. I can't seem to load pictures up.

Opa I'm glad Granny is ok, that is scary stuff.

It was my first morning feeding fermented feed. I can safely say they liked it. I feed with the pop door closed and then open both coops so they see the food before they leave the coop. Most mornings it makes no difference they are in such a hurry to get out. This morning I opened the pop door to no one rushing out. It only took a coffee can of grains to feed all my 62 birds and 5 guineas and they haven't cleaned it all up yet. So at this point I think I will try it for a while and see how it goes.

More rain and I see the dreaded s word up by stacykins and headed 1mutts way - hopefully none dips down this way but we did have some sleet yesterday. I'm not complaining, about 7 years ago we had a snow storm on Oct.1. I can be happy with rain.

So far just rain here, small craft warnings are out and we have 2 big ships anchored offshore waiting out the wind. I had hoped to work on some chicken coop projects, but looks like the wind, cold and rain will defeat me today. Guess that means housework instead this afternoon.

Opa, will keep Grannie in my thoughts - that whole thing is a big mess There was no need for the clinics to use a compounded medication, Depo Medrol (the labeled brand name) is readily available - but costs a few dollars more per vial, which is probably why the clinics involved used it. For a few bucks they have put so many people at grave risk, what a terrible result.

We had some s%@#-like precipitation yesterday. Heavy and wet... and brief. My van has been in the shop and broken for about a week before that so I haven't gotten out in a while. In the meantime, my chicken feed ran out so now that I have the geriatric van back, I need to get to town, to the feed mill ASAP to restock. The chickens got scrambled eggs and overripe bananas for breakfast as a result of my inadequacy and I'm sure they were thrilled - me not so much.

Trying to get to Fowl Fest on Saturday since we will be visiting Frankenmuth that day and it would be a shame not to see it if we were so close. I'm having trouble finding times on the event though but it looks like it basically runs all day? We'd have to drop by in the morning, before our scheduled rendezvous with the extended family at Bronners.

Since this is Happy Hump Day, I was trying to avoid any negativity. And here you go with the s-word profanity.
Sorry, Raz. However, I do know people who live here that love hearing that word. Not that I'm one of them, of course. LOL
It's okay, though, as long as it stays at only a few flakes from now until next spring.

Opa, I hope Granny remains untroubled of any symptoms by the shot she had.

Fowl fest is actually in Birch Run this year at the Birch Run Expo Center. They had the show in frankenmuth for one show a year or so ago, but now its at the expo center. Just making sure you knew and didn't get to frankenmuth and there is no show.

What time do you think I should arrive for the best selection of birds to buy? Coop-in starts at 7:30 and judging at 9 but it didn't really say what time it opened to the general public not involved in showing or selling. I didn't know if all the good ones will get snatched up right away, or if I don't have to be in a hurry as I am new to the whole poultry show thing.

Yeah, I looked up the location and having never been to Fowl Fest before, I had no preconceived notions of where it was. :) Thanks though! I'm hoping to make it and see some fine chickens. I'm not in the market for more at the moment though. Next spring for sure.

Here's what our EE, Honey, gave us yesterday. Liiiiiiiitle tiny blue egg. She's been laying a perfect blue egg a day in the same spot in the corner of the barn since the day she started so this was a surprise.

Hah, cute! I like that it even has a little mini yolk on the inside. Maybe she got "knocked up" by a button quail?
