Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

So not poultry pics, but pretty darn cute! I do have a bunch of Magpie ducklings hatching in the incubator, though! I've given the goaties their barn names, so I have something more to go on than "adorable wee goatie lass!"

Very cute! I'm so busy with mine I forget to take pictures. I spend too much time letting them climb all over me and I don't get as much done...

I agree, with TOO SMALL some thing you can walk into is so much easier to clean, and if chicken math happens ( as it always does) you'll have to build another one.
when you make the roosts you will want poo boards under them to catch all the night time poo, much easier to keep clean and you will need less bedding in the long run cause the coop will stay cleaner.

Stacy your girls are sooooo sweet, I was talking to a lady and her daughter at TSC yesterday, they had baby goats ready to sell, I was so tempted to ask" how much I want some" maybe if I got dwarfs I could take them camping with me

http://ext.homedepot.com/community/...some-chicken-coop/?crlt.pid=camp.zb4ds5JeVUkp anyone built a coop like this one? The Mrs. likes it a lot, I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on it. At minimum we'd need to expand it so I can eventually have the size flock I want.
I have a coop that BIL built that is almost identical to this is it's such a huge pain to clean. There are a lot of things about it that just don't work (roosting area? accessing/getting into the middle? cleaning?) easily or "optimaly". And what everyone else said.....NOT big enough for 12 birds.

does any one know if FFH still has chicks? our TSC is done, and I am looking for brown egg layers. I have a hen siting on eggs they should have hatched this week, nothing is happening. the roo I have in with her eggs is 1 Chanteclair. I am thinking they are or were not fertile hate to have her sit for another 21 days, maybe just locking her out of the nesting coop will cure her. No chicks by tomorrow and I think I will try that

So..... Fellow Michiganders, I am sorta freaking out on how to keep my chickens from the numerous predators we have in our state... I have two nesting eagles that fly over every day, and some kinda of huge hawk like bird (immature bald eagle?) that sits in the tree over looking the chicken coop, it's like they know what is coming.

I have a question. We just moved into our new house and the wife is wanting to get goats now that she has seen your pictures. I know nothing about raising them. The previous owner had a pen that he raised sheep in for 4H. I want to say its about 24 x 24 with a little 3 sided coop in it. What else if anything would I need? Thanks for any info you can provide.
