Quote: Sorry to see that! Best of luck cleaning them! I'd try to disinfect the feet, soak them and see if you can get some of the infection out, and then reassess how he is getting around.
Epsom salt soak if you have them would clean and help draw out any infection.

There is nothing more strange looking than a roo with both feet wrapped in bandages.

Clean him up, soaking is good due to nature of the affliction. Isolation on clean(fresh and clean bedding) would be good after the soaking. Removing the scab and tissue will leave it more open to air and infection. A good scrubbing might be in order as well. Mild bristled utility brush is what I use on my hands. Even if you don't have the salts a good scrubbing with soap and water would help the situation.

Or if you are impartial as I am. Freezer camp.

There are people who seam quick to squeal poor husbandry. My reality is that this is another living creature, there will be only so much controle we can exert over it.

he's walking pretty normally. acting normal. it looks absolutely disgusting. I noticed it when i was filling feeders today and he was being a bit "off" about putting his feet down. it's just about identical on each foot which seems kind of strange but we will see. might see about doing an epsom soak to assess how bad it really is. we have enough roosters that it wouldn't be any kind of a loss for him to go....it's just the husbandry aspect of it.

Since it seems to be on the same place on each foot, maybe his roost spot needs an exam too.

I would not put him down for that, it can be corrected most of the time. It could be bumble foot or frost bite from this rotten winter!

putting sick or injured birds down is part of owning chickens. many of the old timers would not spend the time and $$ on a sick or injured bird they would consider it a weak link in the flock.

Just opened my greenhouse (its inside and small) and i have lots of starts on my garde , but.. My cucumber plants (all 45) have holes in the leaves and are wilting!! Something has made a snack of my plants!!! I am mad.. Mad is an understatement!!!

Just had to vent! Back to re planting
could try some liquid 7's

So not poultry pics, but pretty darn cute! I do have a bunch of Magpie ducklings hatching in the incubator, though! I've given the goaties their barn names, so I have something more to go on than "adorable wee goatie lass!"

I am so Mad! I can't find any info any where, anyhow, any way about the event in Imlay tomorrow! I've tried the chamber of Commerce, The Eastern State Fair, The Imaly City Fair, The Lapeer Agricultural Society, etc. etc. I don't have face book or instagram so apparently I'm not "in". Somebody help!! Or, it's pajammas and zzzzz'z for me tomorrow.

EDIT: See, I was so mad I didn't congratulate @Stacykins on her kids! Sorry! They are cute.
Ok so I am just going off the link someone gave me before, I think I'll get there at 8am I'll just have to find out whatelse is going on when I get there! Someone is supposed to drop off a IT GLW they don't want to deal with at 3pm at my house-hope I don't want to stay for anything else! I'm going to bed, see you all tomorrow!
