Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Since I'm going to fish the Huron river tomorrow and then the Grand River on Thursday & Friday I probably won't get the run fully tarp until the weekend. I'll post pictures when it's completed.

Brethren... I hope DH is okay!

Nice run Opa! I love it!

First of all, great thanks to both Stacykins and Taprock. There is not enough thanks and gratitude for what has been given and done already.

DH had an accident at work today. A 36' long, 18" tall, 1400 lb metal beam rolled over on his leg. Surgery to stabilize it today, surgery to repair in about 2 weeks. Possibly a third surgery down the road. The ankle is pretty crushed. They called it a pilon fracture. Will be a long road to recovery. We are waiting for a cat scan to see if the joint cartilage was damaged at all. They are hopeful that it is intact. Even without damage to the cartilage/joint, the orthopedic surgeon said it will probably be 6 months before he might be able to walk without some kind of aid. There will be no walking of any kind for a number of weeks as it is. If you choose to see it, the pictures below show post op stabilization of the leg.

That is so kind.
Really, at this point, I'm still trying to absorb what all needs to be addressed. There are big things we had planned to do this fall that kinda need to be done, and then there are the other silly things that come to mind, like what is he going to be able to wear? It's not like a pants leg will fit over or around this contraption. Do I need to dress him in a skirt? LOL!! It will be difficult for all of us, but we will get thru it. If anything comes to mind, I will definitely mention it.

For now, I think I will get some rest. Have a feeling I will be needing it.

Taprock, I will be calling you tomorrow. Thank you so much....

It is a cute one.

Sugar laced gas cans... Just be sure to "MARK" the can in a way so you know.

About what I said about using flock raiser.... I just want to clarify that I use flock raiser cuz I have WAY to many different ages in the yard. If all I had were layers, then I am sure I would only use layer feed, but if you have layers, pullets, cockerels, roosters, and young chicks, I'd not get layer feed. The cockerels, pullets and chicks certainly do not need it, and yeah, good luck keeping them out of it. I'd also like to say that I did read over the ingredients of flock and layer when I made the decision to keep the girls who were laying on flock raiser and the percentage variations were not that greatly different versus specified differences in grower/finisher vrs layer.
I assumed that...and that's one of the reason I was curious about it...I have 2 pullets, 3 ducks, and 3 layers, so that's why I was curious too...can ducks eat layer feed? What about drakes? I don't know that I could keep them out of it anyways.

Oh my! How scary! Prayers for you! If you need anything, just ask...and as far as clothes...could you go to the thrift store (or a regular store if you are against thrift stores) and get him some of the side snap pants like the basketball players wear? You could unsnap them to put them on then, and then leave the ones down closer to the brace unsnapped.

This style did come to my.
Any idea what type of store I might be able to find them.
I really don't have the time to start shopping all over right now. ...

Brethren, so sorry to hear about your DH, this is so heart breaking for your family
as for clothes you may take some sweat pants cut them up the side and sew velcro tabs to close, you may have time to sew them on while sitting in Hospital, if they will give you a couple pair of hospital pants that would work to, any thing that normally fits loose if velcro is to stiff and scratchy you can get some (I think it is called binding tape) at the sewing center and cut ties like they have on hospital gowns to sew on the pant side.
Prayers for DH and Family,
