Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

So sorry to hear about your DH Brethren! A horrible and stressful situation to say the least! Many of the sporting goods stores (MC Sports, Dunhams, etc) should be starting to carry those side-snap pants since basketball season is almost here. You could call the store and ask about them so that you aren't driving all over the place. Even Walmart and Taget get them from time to time.

Working up the want-to to make a fire in the boiler today. DH turned the propane heat on this morning because the house was down to 65, but that's an expensive way to heat especially when we've got 25+ face-cord just sitting there! Maybe I'll make some oatmeal for the chickens too.

Bretheren, SO sorry about your DH, I hope he heals really well and is a good patient.

I found these by just googling http://www.amazon.com/adidas-S3BBM203-Mens-100G-Pant/dp/B000817LGW they are called tear away pants, but I googled side snap warm up pants and there was a lot of hits that came up.

You could even ask if the hospital has a pair of bigger than what he needs scrubs and just cut up the side, at least you have one pair to fit to get him home in.

If he is anything like most guys, he wouldn't mind sitting around in his underwear ;) a lap blanket would keep him warm.

Question about my chicks

They are 6 weeks old, and I am switching them off of medicated feed, I have been slowly doing it for a week now, am I ok to just keep going, I may have enough for another 2 days, or do I need to go pick up another bag od medicated to keep mixing it in together, I am now at about a 50/50 mix? I would love aquick answer as I need to go get some soon, thanks

there is a guy near chelsea that is getting rid of 3 beehives... still active w/honey. If anyone's interested let me know.

I did a quick search on here and someone said they found (though I don't know where) "Start & Grow

Medicated can be fed to chicks until 8 weeks of age to prevent coccidiosis."

I would check the bag and see what they say

That is so kind.
Really, at this point, I'm still trying to absorb what all needs to be addressed.  There are big things we had planned to do this fall that kinda need to be done, and then there are the other silly things that come to mind, like what is he going to be able to wear?  It's not like a pants leg will fit over or around this contraption.  Do I need to dress him in a skirt?  LOL!!  It will be difficult for all of us, but we will get thru it.  If anything comes to mind, I will definitely mention it.

For now, I think I will get some rest.  Have a feeling I will be needing it.

Taprock,  I will be calling you tomorrow.  Thank you so much....

Oh my! How scary!  Prayers for you!  If you need anything, just ask...and as far as clothes...could you go to the thrift store (or a regular store if you are against thrift stores) and get him some of the side snap pants like the basketball players wear?  You could unsnap them to put them on then, and then leave the ones down closer to the brace unsnapped.

Brethren- That reminds me of my oldest Brother's situation in '08. He fell about 100 feet down the mountain in Colorado, and broke just about all of his limbs, and spent over a year in recovering, and had to relearn how to walk, and spent a lot of time in the wheelchair, plus at least 20 surgeries, and some of his joints are fused. I had to help him with putting clothes on, etc. It was quite a year. He is the one that just lost a baby boy a few months ago.

I pray that your DH will have a speedy and uneventful recovering.

I need to sell these two fellas.

They are Embden geese. They are not aggressive, and are easy to be tamed. They were shipped from Mezter Farms as day olds in July.
I only have 1 female, and don't need 2 extra males around. You can get them for family dinner, or part of your flock. I would say that they are about over 15 pounds now.

Also have heritage turkey poults of interesting colors if anyone wants any.

2 jersey buffs- 1 male, 1 female, 1 Regal Red female, and 1 Harvest Gold male. 10.00 for each of them.

They are all very healthy, and are on Turkey starter.

Also, I am sure that no one is interested in this, but I will try anyway.... Have about 15 cockerels of various breeds. They were hatched on July 14th. The breeds are Buff Orpingtons, Turkens, 1 Black Copper Marans, 2 Olive Eggers, and a few bantie crosses. The bantie crosses are Araucana crossed with the Golden Laced Sebright.
Please pm me if interested. Thanks!

Hope DH makes a speedy recovery, Bretheren. Hope he's not in too much pain. Men can be such babies!

Oh, I would love them, not sure I can take another thing on right now though, kind of far too, closer to Detroit, am I thinking correctly?
