LOOKING FOR BUTTON QUAIL

Hi Everyone; haven't been on in awhile, hoping everyone is doing well.m enjoying this beautiful spring! Yes! Spring! Anyway...I think I'm going to try button quail. I can't hatch unless you can do it without an incubator, so I'm looking for chicks. Anyone know where I should look. I'm thinking 2 or 3 female and 1 or 2 male. Unless I don't need males. I don't need fertile eggs, just eggs. But are females just happier with the guys around:D. I'm lost, need advice!! Of course, if I can just buy eggs from someone I could go that route too.....

I just discovered our local pet store carries button quail, so you might try a pet store. It turns out we haven't been getting eggs because our newest girl really wasn't a girl! He had no red feathers until after molting.

I've lost a hen the last two weeks. The first was eggbound but I didn't even have a chance to help her it happened so fast. The second no sign of anything. No chicks for me right now. I'd love to hatch some but don't need any right now. I do have turkey poults coming the end of May.

Thanks for the tip! I will try the local pet store. Sorry about your loss. It can happen too quickly and there's nothing you can do.

interesting info on bees, .....you would think the more you get stung (as long as not all at once) the more immune you would become.

Welcome to all the new bees

Anyone in the Three Rivers/Kalamazoo area that will come butcher 1 or more chickens?  Seems everyone in the area only does 50 or more at a time?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Local meat market?
I think when the time comes I will butcher my own. Been watching it on YouTube and compared to deer it seems pretty easy.

It does, but I just don't think I can do it. Don't have to stomach to kill anything and I have made so many phone calls in the last few months...they all want mass amounts of birds at one time. I'm just not there yet. Sigh

Just place an ad on craigslist and give him away...someone will eat him.

Munsell's in Fowlerville will process any size order. They add small orders on days that they do larger numbers. http://www.munsellspoultryprocessing.com/ (517) 375-9908
You have to bring them to the shop but you can make a day of it and visit nearby Howell and Fowlerville. There is an outlet mall nearby as well. If you want to shop for plants there is Specialty Growers nearby. Into tattoos? Get inked at the SHOP in Fowlerville. There is also the raptor centre close by too. You can make a day of it.
Got quite a bit done today after a quick trip to TSC. Picked up critter chow for the kids. Just looked at the fuzz-butts. They had nothing that I wanted. ISA, leghorns, cornish rock, bantams and ducks. They had "amber links" but I am not familiar with them.
After getting home I did a bit of yard work. Raked up most of the backyard. All is done except for the garden area which I'll try to get to tomorrow. Sap collecting is done and the boil has been going on for a couple of days now.
Received a call from the cardiac surgeon's nurse. The hemotologist signed off that I am okay for surgery. So now a new round of cardiac tests and scheduling for the surgery. Not really sure how I feel about that. But I have until Monday to sort things out.
One last thing...
This weekend the clocks are changed. This means that Spring is officially here. It also signifies that all ladies need to start shaving their legs again.
