Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Amberlinks are a production breed. White with red leakage. I'd say they're similar to an isa brown but larger bodied. I can't comment on how they compare for production because my ISA browns are defective and refuse to lay eggs still.

Oh icky yikes!...she would probably be fine alone if out of wind, but may be better to let her go if the condition hasn't resolved in that long. :(
yeah, I probably could have sat up my isolation coop in the same wind block area that I have my main coop in. But again, its something we've been working with her for a while, and well, it was just bigger mess now. was able to get it to relax back in for a bit yesterday, but it was all back out last night, and this morning she was just kinda hanging off by herself, not really moving much. ended it pretty quickly for her. Just makes you wonder if you did it right when they go zombie and try to keep on moving. That's gotta be some sort of biological good of the flock deal, keep the predator busy while the flock retreats.

One last thing...
This weekend the clocks are changed. This means that Spring is officially here. It also signifies that all ladies need to start shaving their legs again.

Kindness rarely goes unrewarded. Due to life changes caused by the demands placed upon me by the mental decline of my old farmer friend and also the physical limitations my stroke has inflicted on me, I decided that it was best if I divest myself of my flock.

So a few weeks ago I loaded up all my birds and took them to a couple that were wanting to increase their own flock. While they were aware that my birds were older and no longer in egg laying prime, they would serve as a bridge until some younger birds could start laying.

A couple of days ago I can home and discovered a dozen eggs on my porch with the following note attached. "With love from your girls. Thank you for being you".

I am so glad I emailed them when the "girls" I sold them had a few "boys" in the group. Happy for all of you!

That's so sweet, Sam. It goes to show you, always be kind. It will come back to you tenfold, or in this case 12 fold.

Loving the warmer weather. But, it's suppose to get back in the 40's again.

We have lots to do. Clear out our back field and make it usable. Love for spring to get here. Need to plant flowers. Not much was planted at this house. Want pretty flowers surrounding me.. lol

Have a good day, y'all.

That's nice Sam, I hope you and your farmer are both doing well. Wish I had time to stop and see you and Granny, I'm down visiting Mom for the weekend, but time is just too short. It is quite a treat to see green grass, as my yard is still completely snow covered.

I know we have been over this before, but I'm going to ask it again. I'm getting ready to clean out 3 coops. I will probably have between 1 and 2 cubic yards of pine shavings and chicken poop. My usual MO is to just cart it all to my veggie gardens and spread it out and till it under. But. I'm wondering if I need to figure out some way to actually compost it first this year (I usually do the big clean out in the fall but I had pneumonia and a lot of things didn't get done in September and October) since it won't have as long to sit and age.
