Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

It's been a rough week or so around here. Trying to get things organized before the "grand opening". My working pace is much slower than it used to be. Then there is the restrictions that the doc wants me to follow. Such as not lifting anything more than 20 pounds.

Going out to violate that "rule" in a few minutes. Those 40 and 50 pound bags of critter food ain't gonna unload themselves.
Went to TSC last night for the feed and they had their chicks for just a dollar. Leghorns, buff Orps, and black Australorp pullets. I resisted the evil calling of chicken math.
My BOs are 8 weeks old and have been out with the big girls for 3 weeks or so.
Met a guy at TSC last night whose family just got some chicks. He was like a little kid buying the stuff they needed. I asked what breed they got and he said "anacondas".

At least he was getting the proper stuff for them.

PS -- I'm still looking for someone who is able to come in once or twice a day when I go to hospital after CS16. Let me know if you know of anyone. Thanks.

Woo-hoo! My local TSC is done with chick's for the year and I was able to score one of the stock tank brooder they use for their chick's for 50% off. I'll bleach it all down really well when I get it home. But couldn't pass it up at that price. :)

I always laugh when they offer to load my feed for me at the store, and ask if they will come home and unload it too - must be looking a little old-ladyish these days

wow that is amazing! I love using stock tanks for the brooder! @iamfivewire we need to check that out at our TSC!

Our hatch is selling quick thank goodness! Just found a happy home for our EE's, Biele/cross chicks, and some Sapphires :)

Next is getting 16 Iowa Blues to their new home hopefully this weekend!

Quote: I used to say that too @1muttsfan .....hahha...now I let them load them, why lift more than I have too?!?!<shrugs>

I actually slide them out of the van onto a hand truck, wheel them up a ramp into the coop, and scoop most the contents into my feed cans. I could lift them, but it plays hell with my knees and back for days afterwards, so I choose the leverage technique....takes a little longer, but way less pain.
