Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Wow! That's huge! What kind of chicken laid that really pretty dark egg?

That's from a marans hen. The color is getting lighter since she has been laying a few months this year now, but I really enjoy the variety it gives to the egg basket.

Wynette has good birds and I think she goes to chicken stock and sometimes has birds she will bring if someone going would like to purchase them.

Maybe in the future I can get one of those. Unfortunately, I've already outgrown my coop and I don't even have my first chick's!

wow that is amazing! I love using stock tanks for the brooder! @iamfivewire we need to check that out at our TSC!

Our hatch is selling quick thank goodness! Just found a happy home for our EE's, Biele/cross chicks, and some Sapphires :)

Next is getting 16 Iowa Blues to their new home hopefully this weekend!

Yeah, I use a stock tank that has a crack in it from where a horse kicked it. Cleaned it out this morning and got plans to go get some freedom rangers for my meat bird project tomorrow. I'm thinking about a dozen or so, maybe a little more depending on just how many they have. wouldn't want them to have to worry about trying to sell the last 2 or 4 birds. And if they have like 8 left, well, might just see if they have any easter eggers.

Let me know Mary, I've got my eggs in the incubator and am starting to ship eggs - as this breed is so rare, we are trying to get a larger breeding population out there so for anyone interested in establishing a breeding program I will ship eggs at cost. Or in Michigan I do travel down to 'Lansing every few weeks and could bring eggs along.

I may or may not have bought 60 chicks from tractor supply this morning. The plan is to sell all of them....except for the 10 Cornish. I figure that's enough for this year for meat. More would be nice but fronting the cost for feeding more would be a chore this year.
