What The Man don't know won't hurt him none, and there are ways of dispatching them really quiet like. Thanks!
I don't have any livetraps right now, but this seems like an excellent excuse to pick one up. I just want to make sure The Man(R) won't be on me over harming an innocent little chicken murderer if I walk out and find it being an active threat.

That was my thought as well. But until I hear her crow, I choose to deny it. lol I really didn't want a rooster. Didn't want to deal with the attitude, nor do I want to hatch out chicks. My coop is already at capacity. If it turns out to be a he, I suppose he can stay as long as he remains a gentleman. Any agression, and he'll be gone,
Yeah, she's busy.....we can wait ;-)I keep trying to get a photo of the new fuzzbutt but I'm having no luck. I don't want to disturb mother hen too much as she still has 4 eggs under her.
Maybe later. Maybe tomorrow.
Maybe now?
Finally! The front of the coop. It faces south, the back is two large doors that open completely for cleaning. I'll try to get a pic of that.
That is so cool Raz, love to see wildlife.
I had some nuthatches use their special ESP power on me yesterday. I was out watering, and a group of them kept flying down by where I was watering, flying up onto a low branch in a cedar just above, and staring hard at me. So I moved a little farther away, and they came down and had a bath in the water that was beaded up on my giant-leafed hostas. Interesting how they obviously knew what they wanted me to do, and got me to do it. And people call animals dumb.
I love the pellets for that very reason, I hate when I have chicks in the run and have to switch to flock raiser,Wasted food has always been a problem. However, you can reduce the loss by feeding pellets rather than mash. With pellets the birds will pick up each individual piece one at a time. With mash many birds will use a technique called billing. It is a side sweeping motion that is the bird's attempt to get as much mash as possible. This side sweeping motion tends to push feed out of the feeder.
