Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

So who else is thinking about winter on the fine, sultry day???

This old saw just can't do the job any more. 20+ years of hard use.

New saw. It better be good for 20 years.

I'll leave this for tomorrow.

Well, last night when I went to close up the chicken coop, four of the nine young ladies had gone to roost of their own accord on the larger roost! Hopefully the other five will catch on now.

...I have not seen any Monarchs this year, but plenty of other beauties.  We allowed the milkweed to grow too...so disappointed.

Come to think of it, I haven't noticed any monarchs either and very few swallowtails, despite all the milkweed growing on our land.

But are you cleared by the Doctor to be cutting up wood right now??

x2! Don't mess up your recovery by overdoing against advise. That wood will still be there next month. Mary

I've been cleared by the surgeon and the regular cardiologist. Cardiac rehab starts next week and they said that I can do moderate things. Firewood is moderate exercise. Right?

I had swallowtails like crazy in spring but they seem to be gone now. No monarchs have been sighted at all.

Not in this heat. you had better be doing that really early in the morning or late in the evenings when it's cooler.

So I'm 99.9% sure my 10 week old RIR is a Cockerel. Last night when I went out to put them away, he kept trying to stare me down, standing upright to make himself as tall as possible. I can't get my hands on him as he always runs away, although he will eat crumbles out of my hand. I have three little girl out of 8 who come to me and beg to be picked up. He didn't care about two of them, but he attacked the third one when I set her back down. I'm thinking these are not good signs to being able to keep him as he matures? He's never attacked me yet,nor shown any aggression toward me, but man the stink eye he gives! So would you cull or give him more time. They have a 16x16' run that they are out in all day.
