Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Congrats!!! Depending on how many you want and what kind, I use My Pet Chicken and Meyer Hatchery-both get chickens from Meyer but MPC handles small orders as a drop ship company and you can pick your chicks sexed. They have been awesome! Congrats and good luck. MPC also has a chick selector that will help you pick a chicken that will suit your purpose like cold weather hearty, good egg layer etc. I used Cackle Hatchery before and even though they sent me a nice selection of birds, over half died within the first 2 weeks! And the customer service was terrible! I spent $200+ on a vet bill and medications to get the rest healthy. Just my personal experience. Good luck.
Hello I am from Michigan, of course, south of Grand Rapids and I was hoping anyone could give me chicken suggestions. I joined last year but haven't really done anything on here until now. I'm FINALLY GETTING CHICKENS!!! Soooo any suggestions on chickens that would survive in southern Michigan? Thx:cd:jumpy

Just learning that there is a Michigan thread! I am new to chickens and look forward to see what everyone is doing:):):)

Are you rehoming or selling your birds? If selling them what are you charging?

All the mixes $5, the purebreds $10 each. For the Spitzes, $25/pr. All the pures are from quality lines but I don't know the breeds well enough to judge them against SOP. None are hatchery stock, all came from BYC breeders.
