Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

They added another charge and piled on more fines and fees. My court appointed attorney was a no-show but that didn't stop the wheels of justice from steam-rolling civil rights. Everything they did was "in chambers" and I was not privy to any of it. All I was told is that I owe them more money for the additional charges. Gardening is criminal here.

gardening? that is insane! court appointed attorney's are a joke non of them take their jobs seriously I swear they are there just to let the "Justice" system do as it wants

Well I usually stay in the RIR standard bred thread as I breed them.

I'm sorry life is so full of havoc Razz. My view is like the host of Wilderness Journal says (I used to say it first I think) "My food, My hands" I grow without chemicals and though female I have hunted my red meat for years and have only this year been without a garden. That was due to some physical injury problems.

Today my schedule includes culling the older hens for stock making - since I can't have commercial because of MSG (Monosodium Glutamate). Cleaning coop litter out and composting it with grass clippings. My juvenile cockerels and pullets are growing out of their little holding/grow shelters and need to move into the main coop. But room is limited. So the best of breed gets sold to other breeders or kept here to breed and a few kept for eating/selling eggs. The rest have to be honored with gracing my table as food. Being useful and feeding myself is an activity God given. After all I don't think he meant it has to be for another person when He said, ".... if a man does not work neither shall he eat..." I can not hold down due to disabilities a secular job but I can crawl on the ground to weed, plant and pick. I can hobble out to the coop with a gallon of food or water at a time, collect and wash eggs, etc. So I intend to keep doing and not be reliant on applying/begging for any Cash help from our Government. I will not ask for what I can provide for myself. Medical to supplement Medicare I do get because I can't do anything about that.

And rather than see a Psychologist for depression because I can't work I volunteer at food distribution center (simply taking fresh fruit or lettuce out of ref and placing amounts per family size on table for the packers) and use my garden and chickens as a reason to get up and keep going. The chickens antics also make me laugh.

Sorry for being so winded today. Coffee and breakfast eaten... now to get busy until I have to stop for a round of the therapy or rest.

I am rather scared of RIR's my brother has a small flock and the are the meanest things.. I agree it is my goal to be totally self sustaining for my family, my husband works 12h shifts after 8y in the Corp and I am home with the younger boys and the farm teaching myself all I can about gardening and milking and preserving..

we need more with that mindset around to teach good values to the younger generation so much is being lost these days it's a shame

Well our pullets have become hens, or at least some of them have anyway. We got our first egg yesterday.
400

I was surprised by the size! I was expecting small pullet eggs but this is full-size. There was another full-size egg in the nest today.
