Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

We have 7 Jonathan apple trees that are over 100 years old, and there were no apples from those trees this year, not even the 3 young trees that we planted had any too.

Today was an awful day to wake up to. Nothing freezing over here in Wayne County, but plenty of cold and wet. I haven't posted to this thread in a while because there is an OT 10-20 yr thread going on in the "Maintaining your Flock" forum and it's over 900 pages long! So far I've made it to page 70. Lots of good information there.

X's 2 Sam!!

I have a dane mix and he is pretty active too. He has tummy issues and has to have his food raised and he can't eat or drink too fast or he loses it all over my floor

And I don't recomend giving him eggs...

He is 7 now and is still very puppy like when he plays.
I have always given my dogs human food... just scraps here and there... but so many people comment on how shiny his coat is. He looks like a wet seal.
However, giving them human food has also never left me with a skinny pup

I hope you can get her weight up!
Thanks! Interesting on yours looking like a wet seal - ha! I assume he's black? How big? Can you post a pic? Here's Luna - this was the week we brough her home, and yes, she was sleeping in this pic. You don't see her sleeping all that often, unfortunately!

Okay, I guess I should show a "normal" picture of her, too - here she is with one of our mutts, Rudy:

When I got him, he was 3 months old and with his brother at a shelter. He was super skinny and would eat his food so fast it would come right back up whole!
He is dane/ doberman mix

Oh my word! I SEE what you mean about slick as a seal! Goodness, he's got a beautiful hair coat! A testament to his good heatlh, I'm sure.

We always give table scraps to all 3 of our dogs with no ill effects. I am adamant, though, that this is done in their bowls in the kitchen so they don't beg while we eat.

Mary,

I'm going to try and make this as brief as I can, but it's also going to be off the top of my head. Some corrections could be in order since Im old but not necessarily smart.

I'm not Mary, but thanks for the information. Would this work to plant asparagus?

While I no longer hold the affection for winter that I once had, I hope it lasts as long as it should. I crtainly won't care to have a reeat of last March. Having the fruit trees blossom and then freeze devastated the state's fruit crop. My orchard is getting quite old and is down to only 5 trees, still I could always count on enough fruit for our needs. This year's crop consisted of 4 lumpy looking apples.

That's 4 better than I got this year. No apples, no peaches, and what suprised me is that I also got NO mulberries. My birds were very disappointed. Me too.

Thankfully, no full out sn@*, but we have been getting some sl**t... Hey, does anyone in Michigan have Light Sussex or Coronation Sussex? I have some Coro chicks and think I have an over abundance of cockerels. I'd love to get some Coro pullets or Light pullets to put with them...

Opa, I've been joining you in that cup of coffee for several hours now. lol...
