Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi everybody! Sorry I haven't been on lately, I've been camping! So what's everybody up to at the moment? Any new chicks for anyone? Any chicken coop ad-ons?

The rain gave us quite a "run" for our money.... A horrible muddy run and a lot of money!!!!:( We are redoing the inside with sand and gravel to more predator prone birds and the new coop is coming on Halloween for my layers and free Rangers . Also setting up Serama breeding pens in the garage. Speak of Seramas anyone going to fowl fest this weekend at birch run????

Hello, Michigan!

It has been a long time since I've posted in the Michigan thread.  I live about 1 Mi. south of the Michigan / Indiana border near the South Bend area.

Would it be permissible for me to post some information and photos on 2 goat wethers that I am selling?  I didn't want to take the liberty unless I ask first.  The boys are from Cedar Ponds near KZ.

I don't have any problem with you posting here

My thanks to those who answered my question about the unusually large eggs/ double-yolkers. Whichever hen it is that is laying those eggs is also laying very regularly. I get a large egg every single day without fail. The smaller pullet eggs are between zero and three a day.
I have a mixed flock comprised of:
1 australorp
1 light brahma
1 BO
1 RIR
1 golden laced Wyandotte
1 silver laced Wyandotte
1 barred rock
1 Isa Brown
1 red sex linked

I have no idea who is laying and who isn't.

On the weekends when we are home more, we let the ladies out to have a walk around. Here they are today enjoying some of the nice autumn sunshine:

Two. Is that odd?
*waving* We're neighbors; hello from Chelsea!

Dexter mill has inexpensive bales of straw. We are thinking of stacking some around the sides of the coop for outside insulation. The inside of our coop is not insulated though.
That's mostly what I did with my old tractor, and about what I'll do with my current one. Just picked up some reinforced plastic to help winterize it more today at Menards. Had to go to 2 different stores to get it today.
