Shes awesome

Almost got my coop all set up for winter. Just need to run the electric cord out to it and stack some more straw in around it. Should be able to get that done tomorrow. Have to get it done tomorrow as surgery is Monday and no lifting of anything for 2 weeks after that.

How much of a threat do you suppose a cat poses to my chickens while they free range? I just noticed one off walking the line of the corn field. The chickens are all pretty big/full grown, so it's not like the cat could snatch one up and take off.

Very few cats bother with standard chickens! Small chicks, and possibly juvenile bantams, but not big birds. My barn cats move away from the chickens, who all look pretty large to any domestic cat. The broody hens protect their chicks too. Mary

Thanks Mary.

Should I try and catch the cat to have it neutered? It's spraying around my garage, I could smell it yesterday.

As long as he's not going to mess with my livestock, I'm happy to have him around. We have enough mice and rats here that he could be fat and happy.

Anyone else seen a big drop in egg production? I have 13 layers and no one is giving me eggs right now. It's been that way for about a week or so
