Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Nova - what breed is Fibber? I love the top knot look that doesn't cover the eyes. He looks like he can actually see.

I emailed the other times we were given addresses. Should we also be emailing this person with our dismay at the proposed GAAMPS regs?

Nova I love Fritz and Fibber

This afternoon Fred ended up bloody again. This time I was outside saw him looking good and then five minutes later his comb is dripping blood. I didn't see him tangle with anyone. I did see BB the OEG chase him a bit which is funny because of the size difference. I powdered him with blood stop and put him in a crate until he was scabbed up. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on him and see who's tangling with him. It may actually be one of the uninterested girls putting up a fight.

Please do. I think this lady is quite interested in what we are currently experiencing and what is likely to happen next year.

You see the size of Fritz the Jerk? He ripped out most of Fibber's crest... So, if that little guy can do that, your little guy probably can too. Lol. Them little dudes are evil I tell you. EVIL!

Evicted the chicks to the small coop today. No more stinky basement!

The 2 older chicks seem to be tolerating the small ones pretty well (they are outnumbered 5 to 1, so I think the littles will be OK) and settling in to everything. We put a heat lamp out there that I got DH to screw into the ceiling so that it CAN'T fall into the shavings and start a fire. I would have skipped the lamp, but the smallest chick is only 2.5wks old, and doesn't have that many feathers yet. They're all puppy-piling up to sleep. It's cute.

I can't figure out my big girls. My SLW was laying every day. Then one of the BSLs started laying. Now 2 of the BRs are laying, but I'm still only getting 1-2 eggs a day. When it was just the SLW I was getting 2 eggs every 3 days.

I'm new this year, too. From everything I'm reading, at this time of year, we're supposed to be happy with what we get, and not try to figure it out. When the sunshine comes back in the spring, things will return to/become normal. Or, you might have a hidden nest somewhere or an egg eater.

Nova, your chicken names (and photos) make me smile.

I've been quietly reviewing for a huge comps exam tomorrow. Not feeling prepared, but refusing to freak out.

So, what do you think, theron? Next few months?
Definitely in the next few months. The thing is though that you might not get many eggs until spring because seramas are very sporatic layers especially in the winter. I get about 10 eggs a day from my 40+ serama hens.
