Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Thank you so much Rachelsflock,

My husband and I met at Firestone Farm at Greenfield Village. We cared for light and dark Brahma, Buff Cochin, and Polish so that is what we really want. I think we are going to take our chances with the city. We have an egg seller near us as we are on a Mile road. We have no close neighbors on either side so I hope we will be okay. We are only going to have a max of six hens so I hope that works in our favor too. We have a child with a brain injury so the school programs made Livonia our choice.

Thank you again I hope I can pick your brain again sometime.

The back side of the barn, got the furring strips up on the main part of the roof there. They'll just have to finish the furring strips on the addition, and metal all up on that. really hoping that the rain holds off here tomorrow so that those guys can keep going on it. Would love to have it wrapped up by Thursday as that they're talking about a big snow dumper coming through on Friday. They also shoveled off a lot of snow that had built up on the backside of the roof as well today.

welcome to John, and Glam, and the newbie, Steph?:frow
Dust bath is very helpful for keeping mites at bay, sand, wood ash, peet moss, maybe prem. dust if you like. any covered area outside works, I use a small plastic pool under cover outside.
Nice roof, looks good.
DO NOT spray any liquid inside coop this time of year, unless you are sure it will dry , the only time I had frost bite on combs was when I got over clean and sprayed liquid in cold temps inside the coop:oops:

Hope you all enjoyed this 50dgr. day, I was glad we didn't get to much rain. chickens got out in the grass for a few min. got some Tucker bombs cleaned up out of the back yard(dog due) Brace yourselves, here comes the cold again:th

The snow is back! The snow is back! Darn it anyway...
Blowing snow. Hate it. But, it's winter in Michigan. What else can we expect.
Be safe out there!

This morning I tried heading for work, turned around, and came home! It's really snowing here, temp 24F and going down, and Novi had rain, not yet the freezing rain and snow. I'm not driving into freezing rain! Here the snow is over ice.
IT'S A SNOW DAY!
Mary
