Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Had a great day spent with family at the Vermontville Maple Festival. The grandkids had a blast and the weather turned out to be beautiful. Ended the day with ice cream (for dinner)
Today another beautiful day. But, it's going to be below freezing tonight.
Hope you all enjoy the day.

This Chocolate English Orpington cockerel was a girl...until...well,you know the story. Last fall chick. $20.

I didn't do a darn thing on the new coop today. Spent all day getting ready for the garage cement pour tomorrow. Moved lumber, fire-wood, rocks and bricks. Raked and burned debris too. The lightest thing I lifted today was a 12 oz. beer.
I'm calling it a day even thought I have a few hours of daylight left. Laundry and dishes will just have to wait

Got the new and improved coop partition wall up today.
Much easier and faster to install and will be safer for the birds.
Hard to get a good pic, but improved where CW attaches to lower wood wall with a studded stick that fastens with wing nuts, cut away a mass of tangled CW.

Will move brooder chicks(1wo) out there in the next couple days.
Will be interesting to see how the broody chicks (6wo and mostly weaned) react,
'Tiny Door' management during integration in a few weeks could be a challenge.

Moved my coops away from the garden today so that it can be disked up later this week. Got the little ones out in the little coop now and they seem to be doing ok there. thinking about putting them in with the big girls soon. Just kinda wish they would respond to mealworms better as I would feel it would easier to round them up later on when they don't wanna go into the big coop.

Hi other mitten chicken people! I’m a green horn when it comes to chickens, this being my first year raising them. We have 3 buff Orpington, 4 Americauna, 3 Isa Brown, 3 Cochin Bantam, 3 Barred Rock, and a Blue Wheaten Maran...so I’m ALL in :) I also have a 10 year old Labrador, Red, and a 6 month old Australian Shepherd, Comet. As well as two little girls and a very patient husband.

I was lusting after those hatching eggs, but just can't right now. Hope they found a good home anyway. Family emergency happening this week, improving, but no time for anything else.
Mary
