Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

It's hard to complain about the weather, given what's happening elsewhere, BUT it was a humid 94F today, and I couldn't get anything done outside! Planned to stain the newer barn boards and start on the coop, but it didn't happen.
Last night, The flock got sprayed for mites AGAIN! It's been a long year, never had so many episodes. Yuck!

Air temp was 92 here today. Sweated my butt off putting up another wall of the garage. but I'll take it. Love the heat The higher the heat. the shorter the girls skirts are. :thumbsup

I saw it too!!! I've seen pens for pheasants; lots of space, big flight pens. Not for me! Do you need a permit to have them at all?
Mary
Permit??? What's that? I'm a convicted criminal poultry keeper. LOL
Actually, I'm working with the DNR and CO's to restore native habitat for wildlife. Got a ways to go but it's getting there.

HELP! I need an adult! Several peasants followed me home. :barnie
If you're not using them, I can always borrow them to help me pick rocks out of the horse lots. At least that's my standard threat to the kids living in my apartment building. One of these days their parents are going to take me up on that offer. ;)

Been busy the past couple of days. Got the barn cleaned up a bit, weeds trimmed, cobwebs and dust knocked down and swept up. Even gave Shrek a bath and got him all cleaned up for our engagement photos that we did on Thursday.
He did behave himself for the photos, but promptly found some nice dirt to roll in the moment we turned him back out with his buddy. Belle was also in the photo shoot, but she kinda wanted to bark at the photographer a lot. Think he might have gotten a few shots of her, along with Smoky the barn cat, who just kinda wandered into our photo shoot and demanded attention.

Was going to have the chickens in the photos as well, but that didn't turn out so well. We had a bunch of straw bales all set up and I was shaking that mealworm bag pretty hard, but they didn't want to get up on the bales like we wanted. Probably because we were pushing em a little and they were just not having it. Maybe if we had just waited another 5 minutes to get em where we wanted them.

We don't see pheasants here very often, and it's too bad. We do have wild turkeys though. I haven't heard a Bobwhite in years either. There's too much building going on!
Mary
I've only seen one since I moved. I'm restoring the land that the power lines run through. Planting native grasses for forage and shelter. Also some grains.
The turkey are abundant but the new pup has them spooked.
