[Charlie's Chickens]

For 3+ years the BYC site has been my go to place for all things chicken but I've only officially been a member for a month. I quickly identified posts from fellow Michigander aart as particularly helpful. Today when I see that you too have unwanted cockerels all hopes that I might gift you my two boys were dashed. Lol!!

I posted their photos on the animals free rehome thread but it seems no one wants them. I cannot keep them in my neighborhood. Are there any Michiganders out there with suggestions? I understand that they may become someone's Sunday dinner and I can accept that however, they cannot be MY Sunday dinner. Help!!

My two roosters have been adopted!!! YAY!!! I took them to a swap at the Ann Arbor TSC on Saturday. The family that adopted them lives on several acres of land and they have a child in 4H. The boys joined an existing flock. I could not have designed a better outcome for two beautiful animals.

Rooster is molting and looking rather sad, haven't seen any of the hen feathers around yet (they are all different colors).

I'll have extra Blue laced Red Wyandotte chicks available in a few weeks, when I'm sure of their sexes. They were hatched at Cackle June 19th, and look great. I can ID a couple of cockerels for sure, but it's so unlikely that there are two boys out of eight chicks...

Anyone else looking a bunch of feathers in their chicken pen lately?? Think I'm pretty sure that I'm going to see a big molt among my girls soon.

Oh yeah, it's started, have seen a few adult feathers amongst the plethora of juvenile feathers.

Pullets or straight run?

These are straight run; I might keep a cockerel, although maybe not. I'd hate to plan on a bird being a pullet, and be wrong.

How many and how much Folly? I may be interested in 6 hens and a roo. Would be nice to get a jump on getting eggs next year and I have a second coop sitting empty... I know those are pretty birds!
