We are under a Winter Storm Warning today. They are predicting 11 - 16 inches of snow with local accumulations of 20+. With another 3 - 5 tomorrow.

Yesterday marked the 44th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. November 7 - 11, 1913 was "The White Hurricane" with more than 20 ships lost in storms on the Great Lakes. Over 200 sailors lost their lives.

It is also Veteran s Day.

I guess doing chores in the snow and cold isn't so bad after all. It helps to keep things in perspective.

Stay warm and thank a vet if you meet one.

I miss having wild Turkeys, they do not do well up here, too much snow and woods.
I miss them too. Since I got the Devil Dog, the wild turkey have stopped coming in to the yard. Even when he is tied up, the turkey keep far away. I do see them from time to time at the far east end of my land. Pretty smart birds.

Nearly a foot of snow on the ground when I came home around 9:00. Lots of deer tracks on the 2-track that I travel to get home. It's still snowing and the wind is making some pretty deep drifts. I'll have lots to plow come tomorrow. :wee

Hello all,
Does anyone know where I could get any bantams in the northern Michigan area? We are willing to drive up to 2 hours away to get one. I have a lonely rooster and am new to BYC! 12 degrees here in the Gaylord area... thanks for any and all help!

Wow @RaZ y'all got more than we did yesterday, we got about 5".
But overnight ~16" of lake effect, supposed to last all morning, then the winds pick up.

Took me 2 sessions, but I made it out to the coop.
The rest can wait, still have to get mower off tractor and thrower on.

We have maybe six to eight inches of snow, and the sun is shining. Beautiful! The last winter prep stock tank move will have to wait a couple of days. Our mower decks are also still on, not good right now.
@aart , that looks like way too much! Be careful out there!
@kcan2 , we don't have any extra bantams right now, sorry.

John, best of luck on your surgery.

If you are not giving your kitten a lysine supplement I would very much recommend Viralyse. Lysine supplements are useful in controlling herpes virus infections of all kinds, including the one that causes respiratory problems in cats, and infections like shingles. Many of those supplements are subpar quality, but Viralyse is very potent.

Also, was a fecal test run on her to identify parasites, especially some of the less common parasites? I recently got a young cat who had lungworm and coccidia. And even if the fecal test is negative it would still be a good idea to deworm, for that kind of a kitten panacur would be a good choice.

x2! Fenbendazole for ten days in a row will get lungworms, and many other parasites. And the Viralyse won't hurt.
Get well soon!
Mary

Thanks for the info. I have some Safe Guard that is fenbendazole but dosing may be an issue. The bottle indicates .6ml per 25 lbs body weight, lol. She's about a pound and maybe a half. She was fine the last few days and is being the lethargic kitten today. I was going to take a stool sample in but the vet said it had to be 24 hours fresh. Honestly I've been having a difficult time getting a fresh sample. She barely poops as it is.

Well I admit I'm surprised all of you south and east of me have so much snow. We have maybe an inch so far although it has prevented me (for the first time) of gathering up the huge amount of maple leaves I get. I usually put about 6 full truckloads in the pig pens, and, or compost piles. Might have to wait until spring unless I can get my sons to come out if we get a thaw. Next week is the start of my downtime and I ain't doing it...
