Yesterday was a good day. I donned my VFW uniform and did my annual Veteran's Day speech at a local adult day care. The put on quite the show for all the vets that go there and other folks. Good vibes.

Well I admit I'm surprised all of you south and east of me have so much snow. We have maybe an inch so far although it has prevented me (for the first time) of gathering up the huge amount of maple leaves I get. I usually put about 6 full truckloads in the pig pens, and, or compost piles. Might have to wait until spring unless I can get my sons to come out if we get a thaw. Next week is the start of my downtime and I ain't doing it...

I would have been more than happy to send this lake effect up to your shore

John, you might ask your vet if they have a less concentrated form that they could dispense for you, she is quite small for that strength. ASAP would be best.

We must not have received as much snow as I thought. County plowed my road with the dump truck. They only use the grader if we get a foot or more. Still, some drifts were halfway to my knee. I generally use the 2-track "unimproved" road to get home. Shaves about 2.5 miles off the trip. Plus it is fun to drive.

Sure is a beautiful day. Bright sun and a blue sky without a cloud. The lake looks so peaceful. Last night was windy as heck. What a change in 12 hours. It is cold (22 degrees) but I was toasty warm in my hunting suit. Got both driveways plowed and a path to the garage. I don't know how I lived without a tractor. Oh wait, I used to live in the city.

Chickens would not come out of the coop. They bunched up at the door and just looked out. Somehow they managed to unplug the heated fount so it was frozen. Took them a fresh one while I properly secure the plug. Good time to clean all the founts and feeders. They are soaking in the bathtub. I'll do the hummingbird feeders too. Think Spring!

Where is everyone? Mighty cold out there. It's lightly snowing.
I'm going to rescue a chicken is downtown Lansing. Someone posted on FB and one of my friends tagged me. The chicken has been hanging around for a couple of days. Wonder how it didn't freeze to death! It was late so didn't want to go that late but got the lady's phone number and talked to her. She lives in an apartment and has no garage or basement. She wrapped the chicken in a comforter and in the corner of her deck. Was going to ask the other tenant if he minded her to put in foyer. Going after PT to get her. Hope she's still alive!

Got the chicken! A beautiful RIR. Lady had her in the foyer, so she was comfortable. Looked a lot better than her freezing in the yard. She even laid an egg! She's alert and eating and drinking. Was funny, the lady texted me after I got home and had a pic of a post for a lost RIR. I called the lady and she said, hers came back and her chickens are all accounted for. How weird is it that two of the same breed of chicken is lost at the same time in the same area??

Update on Jolene and I. Stool sample negative. Cindy was feeding her milk replacer with a syringe. I took her to the vet today. She's progressively lost weight over three visits. Vet say it may be FIP which cannot be treated and is ultimately fatal. I'll keep loving her and hope for the best. I'll be heading to Detroit (Grosse Pt. {sp}) for a 16 hours surgery followed by a week. or so, of inpatient, followed by a couple months off my feet. There goes my Holidays. Turkey Day is this Saturday at my house. Anyone shows up eats, lol. I'll be eating through a naso-gastric tube for a few weeks after this "thing". Ain't life grand? Have a great weekend peeps. Never before have I been one to share my woes. I hope this is the last.

Quite the news report, John. Poor Cindy has her hands full, caring for an ailing kitty and an old Coastie.
I don't know what you are having done but I'm sure you will pull through. If I can go through 16-18 hours of open heart surgery, your surgery should be a breeze. You are in far better shape than I was. Just keep us updated.
