Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I read through the posts...a few aches and pains, I sincerely wish everyone will feel better and take the time to make themselves comfortable.

So, Kitty made a comeback and actually gained a pound! Vet gave her the thumbs down and the last visit (someone else had to take her) the vet was cautiously optimistic. She has never gained weight and now she's pooping, tearing around, and being a general nuisance which is what we expect of a healthy kitten.

I went to Detroit yesterday for my first follow-up with the surgeons. I was pretty skeptical that anything good would come of the 4 hour drive there. I was wrong. They said my healing was going better than expected (I actually did what the said for once) and they pulled the feeding tube. Well folks we made a detour and went to Bronners and also I ate mashed potaoes and wet stuffing at the Bavarian Inn. Can't eat meat so the chicken went in a box from the meal. We stopped at Dunkin Donuts and I had my first coffee after this long wait. AND, Rum Raisin Ice Cream when I got home late in the evening. Okay not even 75% but hey.

Got up this morning and actually fed the pigs...baby steps, lol.

Yeah, Chickenstock...didn't Candy mention an alternate site? I'm happy with whatever really as long as my peeps are there.

Nice score from work last night. 6 half gallons of skim milk that was past the sell by date. 3 pints of green beans for the chickens. 9 pints of mashed potatoes. Fried potato pancakes for supper tonight. Several sturdy cardboard boxes for the garage.

My garage is looking like a tribute to Tetris. Antone want a ton of old Hull pottery? Kitchen stuff? Crafting supplies? Other old lady collectibles?

I think the opossums are living under the coop. Found a small hole between the foundation blocks that didn't have the wire/HW in place. Filled in the hole and placed a game camera to see what, if anything made the hole.

Got an older hen looks to be on her last leg.
Won't eat or drink, lethargic and very pale comb.
No swollen belly or breathing issues.
Will probably euthanize if she doesn't die or improve in the next day or two.
She's always been an odd one, will probably open her up to see what's what in there.

So cold. And snow. Well, it is December. Stay warm and safe...
It was quite a bit warmer before sunrise. It's bee snowing all day. The ground is white and the mud is beginning to freeze. Still lots of mud under the blanket of white.

I just came in to warm up. Split that red oak that I dragged out of the woods last week. 32 inches from the bottom had an insect colony. Hens got a nice treat of grubs from it.

As soon as my fingers thaw I'll go back out and stack the wood.
