Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Thanks for the tips. I'll try the warm rice thing. Not sure just yet how I can get it in my gloves.
The exercises seem to be helping a little bit. The underlying problem is the joints. I have to go through PT before insurance will allow an MRI to pinpoint the root cause. Rules, ugh!

There are a lot of farm operations around here. A CDL would be handy. Maybe even a spot with the Road Commission. Those guys are great. I'll be at the Michigan Works office on Monday and get the details.

Nice and sunny here right now but they are predicting snow later and through the night. At least I got that tree split and stacked yesterday. Firewood toted in too.

Time to check on the chickens.

It takes conscious effort and desire to loosen things up ;)
Not a quick and easy fix.
AMEN!

Oh and wax soaking. (Using a thin nitrile or plastic glove so you can reuse the wax). These things are like smaller crock pots on Amazon. Talk with your PT on this option, see if they have recommended a model and tips or tweaking.....

And by all means talk with them about the rice sock/glove option and how often they advice as well as tips or tweaks here as well!

A nice 4-6 inches of snow by the time I got home. Could get more overnight. Or so they say. In any case I plowed the driveway and shoveled the deck. Fun times driving the tractor after dark.
Doctor appointment tomorrow then PT. Roads should be clear by then.

Interesting thing going on with one of my chickens. She is laying her egg with an extra deposit of calcium on the shell. The shell is brown but the extra bit is white. I always thought that the colour was the last step in laying an egg. Could her egg be goings backwards just before laying?

Post a pic?

I had a chicken do that one time. It was weird, but it washed right off.
The winter storm warning turned into a big hoax. Perhaps a dusting. Weather people and their drama..

It might just be a chalky coating. Eggs can actually go back a little bit, that's how they can get double shells.

Take some uncooked rice and put in in the end of a cotton sock, then tie the sock off. Heat in the microwave before going out to work, and keep it in your pocket to warm your hands on while you are working. Cheap, easy and really effective hand warmer.

I think they put those warnings out:
1) because they are bored and miss the drama of a real snow event.
2) because people forget how to drive in ice and snow and do need to be warned. :gig

We got about 4 inches, just enough to need the tractor on the driveway. Fortunately it has warmed up so not too bad doing chores. And the sun is shining today! I need to track down my sunglasses, haven't needed them for a few weeks

This is the extra deposit on the shell.
