Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

So, I am a very excited and happy dad! My dog Hank, in the picture <<< is being trained for deer tracking. His job will be to track the blood from a deer if a hunter is unsuccessful in recovering the animal alone. Today I laid down my first line for him, it was short only about 50 feet, across part of our back lawn through some tall grass and into some leaves under a tree. I set him on it and within less than two minutes he had found the prize! I was very happy... Time to make it more difficult :)

The cooking for tomorrow was moving right along. It was about time for the ham to come out of the oven and only the banana cake needed to be made. Imagine my angst when I discovered the ham was only up to 110 degrees and that the oven was no longer functioning. In spite of a valiant effort to fix it the ignitor was no longer working. Since tomorrow was going to require extensive oven use, I decided the only recourse was was to purchase a new stove.

When I arrived at the store they were only minutes away from closing. I hurriedly made my selection, loaded it up, and headed for home with a new fiv burner stove/convection oven. Only about thirty minutes after deciding we needed a new one I was installing it.

The grates cover the entire top and the fifth (center) burner is elongated. Since Hope likes using an antique cast iron griddle I think that will be a nice feature. The convection oven may prove to be great as well. The only downside is that the delay that ensued is making our day much longer than anticipated and the big hit it placed on my wallet.

Opa, you will enjoy the new stove - just consider it an early Christmas!

Opa, I cook with cast iron pans as well, and being able to slides those things from burner to burner on our new stove is awesome, they aren't exactly light.

Sometimes Thanksgiving can be a little hectic. Hopefully yours is a good day.

I've been up since 4:30 so that I could make coffee and be ready when David got here. We had planned to hunt this morning but to get into my stand before daybreak we need to have left here by 5:30. Something tells me he has overslept. I'd call but I don't want to wake Amy.
