My girls are a mess right now. Lot of them are molting hard, and the egg supply has dried up. I probably need to get them in under lights soon and see if that gets at least this years pullets to fire up a little more, and maybe one of the ones that are almost over it. Darn egg sucking dogs.

Belly is around 15 years. She did make it out to the porch when I got home from work. Her left hind foot curls when she stands and she can't put any weight on it. I think it over-taxes her other rear leg trying to compensate. Bought her some hip & joint supplements. And got a couple of suggestions for other remedies.

When I was working a real job I was always abler to get proper care for my critters. The last couple of years have been a nightmare.
I'm sorry you dog is hurting. It's so hard to see. We love them so. Hope she gets feeling better. My dog takes prednisone occasionally for allergies. I think it helps the arthritis too because she has a much easier time getting up on the bed when she is taking it. We try to limit it as much as possible because of possible long term side effects.

Thank you. I'm sorry she is hurting too. And I feel bad that there doesn't seem to be much that I can do to help her. She hasn't moved at all from where she was when I left for work. She isn't whimpering or crying. Her tail still wags when I look at her, pet her, or just stay in sight.

Such a hard decision to make. My heart breaks each time I have had to make it.
It is indeed.
I let one dog go on too long, she was miserable even with pain meds.
Almost one year ago I decided I would not let Rascal get that bad.
Often the best decision for them is the hardest for us.

We just love them so much. It's so hard to let go. It's hard to see them suffer. But, if she's not crying and whimpering, maybe she's not suffering.. Just old and tired.
