Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

we got some freezing rain but not a lot, then toped off with 2 or 3 inchs of snow. driving is slow but not bad. Plow's have done a super job at keeping main rds. clear.
Had to start the new year off putting a hen down. Friday morning, she was old and laying on the roost board. Thought about putting her on the floor to see if she would be OK, but with her legs sprawled out behind her I knew it had to be done. The last of my road island red's :(
The worst part of chicken keeping!

Yes, we got freezing rain before it snowed. A layer of ice beneath the snow. Later in the afternoon when it got a bit warmer, I was able to scrape the ice off the deck stairs and patio. Daughters family came over and we went for a walk at the nature center close by. My gosh, it was so beautiful walking thru the snow covered trees. It wasn't that cold and no wind so it was perfect. A lot of people had the same idea.
Sorry for your loss, Snowflake. It's never easy.

Have a good day everyone...

I am so sorry for your loss @snowflake.

So my ladies were introduced to the new run this afternoon. It isn’t quite done yet but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to let them spend some time in there under a watchful eye.
My pearl star leghorn has lost the ability to stand as of yesterday. She was limping last week and up until yesterday afternoon she seemed to be shaking it off.

Later yesterday, she went down and seems to have no strength or balance on her left side. She laid an egg yesterday and stands for brief moments, but far from normal.
I posted on the ER page and got a few hits. If anyone has thoughts, I’d be grateful.
