Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

What a morning! :barnie Spent most of the morning on the phone and internet dealing with Medicaid, Rx carrier, county officials, and other bureaucrats. It seems that the simplest things are now complicated just for the sake of being complicated. :he

Anyway, I finally got out to plow the driveway. There was a good 6 inches on the ground. At least the ground is frozen enough to use the tractor without tearing up the gravel. Stayed out until my fingers and hand went numb. Still have a little more to do and then hit the neighbor's place. At least the wind isn't as bad as predicted. Still darn cold though.

How is every one else doing this winter?

This is the driest winter I can recall. We've had maybe 12-14" all season long, and the most we've had on the ground is around 4 or 5." I am not complaining! But I hope this doesn't mean a lack of moisture in the ground out here.

Does anyone know... Will TSC order a specific type of chick? I am so ga-ga over blue australorps I can't see straight, wanting to get some. I have room for 4 more birds. I don't know anyone else who is interested in getting chicks in the spring near me, so an order of 25, or 15 is totally out of the question. But if TSC were to order 25 cute little flufferbottoms and have the picture of a blue aussie on the brooder tub... Gonna have to stop in and ask.

TSC usually gets chicks from Townline in Zeeland, MI. A quick search of their website didn't show any Blue Australorps. Maybe TSC can order from other hatcheries. IDK.
Good luck in your search.

Oh, I guess it has been a while since I've logged in. What was that about a fall chicken Stock?? that could work perhaps. My current work schedule I'm off Saturday's and Amy should be able to get that day off if she puts in for it early enough.

And as far as the Vaccine goes, I got my first dose of that last friday, and should get the second dose in 2 more weeks. Massage therapists where classified as health care workers and we got to sign up recently. Could have been a weekend away from getting the second dose if I hadn't dinked around with getting the flu shot the morning right before we got the email saying that we could get the vaccine through the Washtenaw County Health Department and here's the link for that. needed to wait two weeks after that to get the Covid. Neither one of them was that bad. Just that my arm felt like somebody really hauled off and punched it after the Covid shot for the next day or so. Hear that its the second dose of that that can really hit you hard. We'll see. Hopefully they should be rolling out more doses for everybody soon.

Girls have been doing good so far this winter. One of my older buffs hadn't been looking so perky for a while, but I think she's pulling out of that. Other than that, they would just want it to be spring again.

Would like to see more response for a fall CS. Things are still up in the air with the new variants of the virus and when people will be able to get their shots. So, lets hear from more folks! How many would come?
