Love the Egg Skelter....I have been looking at them too, but with children in my house it would end in too much disasterMy eggs go unwashed into a basket on the counter. But I have been eying those egg skelters lately...

Oxford update. I finally took the rooster by the comb and arranged the first meeting of the Oxford Planning Commission "Urban Agricultural Committee," otherwise known as the "Chicken Committee." I'm planning on a meeting for December 13th. I wanted to get one in before the end of the year. Hopefully, we'll get our plan together and bring it to the Board of Trustees before spring. Regardless, my coop construction will begin in February or March. Hopefully, I won't have to hide it.
I'll put out the call for Oxford residents again. If you know of anyone in Oxford who would like a backyard coop, please send them my way. I'll want a good showing of support when we go to the trustees.
I live in Clarkston. Does Oxford not allow chickens? Contact me and we could probably come out in support!Good luck with it Ron! You might consider taking out a classifieds in the local paper and making a flyer for the community center's bulletin board to help spread the word. I'd offer to come out for support, but I live an hour away, and likely they won't care to hear from someone who doesn't have chickens and doesn't live in Oxford.
According to anything I found and read we are allowed. I read something on here about Michigan law stating as Michigan residents we are allowed to own chickens. Some say state trumps local but other's say local trumps state. I would definitly try and find that on here. I read it but I am not sure how to find it again on this site. I'm new and still trying to figure out how the BYC site operates. If I find it again I will try and send it to you!Oxford only allows chickens if you have 2.5 acres and are zoned agricultural. So it's a bit useless for most of us. What about Clarkston?
That's bull crap! I don't understand the issue in the first place. If people want to have animals on they're property they should have the right to do so...Unfortunatly, cities are getting wise to the MRTF law and are in the process of trying to get the wording changed to give them back the power that MRTF law took away from them in the first place.
I do have them but they are pending pickupWe are always on the look out for Cloverbud sized bantams for 4H...do you still have these ladies?
I have a little ceramic crock with oyster shells in it for whenever they want some. My husband complains because cracking our eggs just about involves a hammer LOLI have a chicken laying eggs that have a soft shell. I have read that chrushed oyster shell works so I went and got some yesterday. Should I just put it in a bowl and give it to them or mix it with they're food?
