Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Morning Everyone! I have to release Ross/Rose. I think that 3 days in separation is harsh. She/He needs to run free for a day even if the others need to run. Just a thought. Back to work on that run! Flies are everywhere.

Just a little update. And Rose/Ross has not bothered anyone today and is free running all over the temporary area. What can I use for the flies? @RaZ, I mean besides a fly swater, lol

Temporary run

Now the real run begins. He is using any wood is laying around. Once done, we cover on hardware cloth and might get a net for the top for awhile until we can figure out a way of putting cover on top before the snow.

Your project is really coming along. I'm sure that your sense of relief once everything is all fixed up to your satisfaction will be tremendous.
If you see the picture of the run I visioned to the one I am getting is tow worlds apart, :lau

But yes, the temporary one is in front of their house and my kitchen. I do get to see them at all times but there are plenty of flies. I need to find a way to minimize that.

I tried a fly strip ion the coop. ONCE. There is no good place to put one. If they roost higher up then they can jump just about anywhere. I had one hen that did. I had a heck of a time cutting that sticky strip off of her.

Mosquitos don't bother me but those little black biting flies attach my bald head at every chance. But since they sprayed for the gypsy moths the flies seem to have vanished. Not a single bite. They spray for the moths was good. Good for them. I have twice as many now as before the spraying. I cleaned the front of the house on Friday and it is about half covered again with the buggers. They are all over everything here. You can't walk 3 steps without running into their silk.
