Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Eggs are considered pullet eggs when the bird first starts laying and the eggs are small, within a few weeks they reach normal size.

EE's will lay blue, green, or pink/tan eggs - you can't predict which

and another question! I'm full of those lately.

The EE chicks from Townline that TSC will have in the spring.....do they (in everyone's experience) tend to lay blue or green?

I have three EE from Townline and one lays brown, one green and one blue. Sorry I could not be of more help

BFM, looks like mom (and pups) could use a good deworming too. Best to weigh them to calculate the correct dose.
Yes, thank you for reminding me... I was going to look up some different brands. Can you reccomend a good brand? Or are they pretty much the same?
We were talking about this last night too.

So I've been playing around with different treats for our girls and have learned so far they love my homemade suet, warm oatmeal and popcorn! Any other suggestions would be great!

AGREED!
This man has both and deserves niether. IMO.
French Mastif is what I was told.
Yes, we forget how many "goodies" are brought in on our shoes.
I will look into the vaccines at TSC again.

CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!!

We are going to be picking up a crate for them today so they don't have to be piled in a box.
The kids love them!!!

Mama is so gosh darn skinny. He fed her once a day and would let her bark until it was "time" for her to eat... meaning when he got around to it again.
Her teets are so swollen that she looks like she has 2 utters under her belly... poor girl.
dogue de bordeaux is the french mastiff. The coloring is right.

They will be a handful and I would suggest when rehoming, that you look for people with large, dominant dog experience! And if I didn't already have 4 mastiffs, I'd be calling dibs on that little brindle pup or the chunkser below it! LOL!

She is thin... Good dog food and satian balls may be helpful to bring weight back on (along with worming as suggested). And lots of photos too! we'll need lots of photos!

Good for you guys for helping her and the pups!!

Yes, we will be screening the right people.
I think everyone has called dibs on her... LOL
Everyone wants her but now one has flashed the cash.
I found a great vet to check everyone out and deworm for a pretty decent price. Another vet I checked with wanted to vaccinate right away, then this one explained why they did not push vaccinations before 6 weeks and I was very satisfied with the discussion and willingness to help me understand.

I am googling satin balls RIGHT NOW! I forgot the recipe... If you are willing to share once more that would be great!!!

My stomach is very happy we saved them too!!!

Satin Balls

  • 10 lbs. ground beef
  • 16-oz. box of Total cereal
  • 16-oz. box oatmeal
  • Jar of wheat germ
  • 1 1/4 cup Vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 cup Unsulfured molasses
  • 10 eggs (with shells)
  • 10 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
  • Pinch of salt
  • Large bowl
  • Large cookie sheet
  • 10 qt.-sized freezer bags
Mix together and form ball according to dogs size. Freeze.

I would not recommend these as an only food source, but more like a supplement or aid to put on some extra weight. Or an occasional treat (in this case I'd make very small balls).
I found it!!!
Thank goodness for the seach this thread feature!
